HS-->College Transition

How was it for you? I'm trying to figure out how it will be for me next year, as I cannot wait to get the hell out of here. Some kids from my school that graduated last year say it's actually easier than HS. But then again, we're a top 100 ranked school in the country, our kids are smart

Showing up to EVERY class will put you miles ahead of most. Just remember there is ALWAYS a party going on...it will be there after you study. Just dont go bat shit crazy because of the newly found freedom

Its been alright. I didn't go to any parties last semester, but since I'll have a dorm room this semester...


As far as the work, its cake. Just show up.

It's definitely not easier than high school. Community colleges might be, but not big 4 year universities.

The work is harder, but the schedule is easier. You take five classes (or four depending on where you go) and spend about ten hours a week in class (so there really aren't too many excuses to miss class). Its the other 158 hours of the week that can get you in trouble. Passing through college isn't about being intelligent as much as it is about being able to get the assigned work, reading, and studying done outside of class.

Actually enjoying college is about finding other things on campus to do. If all you do is go to class and go to parties, you probably won't enjoy it as much as the students that are doing extra-curricular activities. So I'd say go to class, do what you're assigned, and get involved in stuff outside of the classroom and you'll be fine.

The girls are not as horny. Wait, only the freshman are. By the 2nd or 3rd year a lot of those girls drop.

Edit: My advice is make sure you get some your first year, then focus on school work as it tends to get harder. For the work, just START. Don't put it off.

You're given a lot of freedom - just don't bug out. Be adventurous, but don't be stupid.

If you go to class and do your work and keep everything else balanced, you should be fine. I have a 3.4 GPA right now and it could have easily been higher if I applied myself more. It's just a matter of knowing when to study, party, stay up all night, etc. Time management is key.
