<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>(CNN) – During a speech before the National Rifle Association convention Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee — who has endorsed presumptive GOP nominee John McCain — joked that an unexpected offstage noise was Democrat Barack Obama looking to avoid a gunman.

“That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak,” said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. “Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor.”</div>

Looking at this idiot speak up, I am so glad that McCain is the Republican nominee, and not an idiot like Mike Huckabee. I really hope this idiot gets blacklisted from politics...unfortunately, the Fake Christian Right is rallying behind this idiot. With an idiot like this in power, we will end up with war with the entire Middle East because "Muslims are bad". I hope Mike Huckabee enjoys his time in Hell.

Huckabee's a classic douchebag - and has made far worse comments than these to boot.

Huck Fuckabee.... wait, that didn't work out exactly as I planned.

Also, isn't it a crime to suggest shooting the president or presidential candidates?

Huckabee's true colors are showing through, as a bitter racist who clings to his guns and religion (while completely misinterpreting his religion, using it for division through hate rather than unity). I think the public backlash is pretty good against Huckabee, but the media is being a little bit of bitches on this. The media should be slamming Huckabee, but they aren't.

Hopefully this doesn't encourage one of the crazy's to attempt anything against Obama.

This guy disgusted me with his hate for Muslims (this idiot knows that Muslims worship the same God, right? right???). He disgusted me with the comparison of homosexuality to beastilaity. His ideas of shooting Obama disgust me as well. MLK, JFK, and RFK all died from guns....it would be a real riot for someone to be pointing a gun at Obama, right Huckabee?

He does know that Muslims actually believe Jesus was a prophet, and the Jews didn't, right?

And his son hangs dogs.

BTW, Huckabee did apologize in case anyone was wondering.

Not that I'm a conservative or anything, but I figured you all should know.

Yeah, who cares about any of the good things that Mike Huckabee might have done is his 50some years on this earth. His entire life is a sham because of that one stupid remark that he intended as a joke. After all, I'm sure that no one that posts on this forum has ever made a stupid remark or joke that they wished they could take back. One of the posters on CNN said the Huckabee should have to suffer through a gun-related death of a loved one because that would be karma. It's stuff like that reminds me that the left is as full of crap as the right.

No one in this thread said anything about his whole life being a sham based on this one comment. I see many people saying that this isn't the first time he's said something ridiculous and basing an opinion off of that, but not this one isolated incident.

This is what happens when people keep telling a guy who isn't funny that he's hilarious.

Well yeah, if you ignore his love for a white supremacists group, his hatred towards Muslims, and his obstruction of justice with his dog hanging son...then yeah, he's a good guy.

Actually, I never paid much attention to Huckabee because I never considered him a legit contender in the Presidential race. After googling up some information based on your accusations, it sounds like Huckabee has some real issues. However, I look at your signature and see the Obama pic and it reminds me of the picture, from last year, that I saw of Obama embracing one of the biggest racists in U.S. History, Al Sharpton. Could it be that Huckabee and Obama are just different sides of the same coin?

I think McCain has a worse pastor problem for the record.

I wonder if anyone heard what happened today. Truly horrible what was said about Jewish people.

^ That article contains some absolutely atrocious 'logic' regardless of whether one approves of Pastor Hagee or not overall. [I personally don't subscribe to the absolutist cause and effect theory of divine action he seems to indicate]

I don't really see the issue with Obama's pastor, as I've said all along.

McCain is transparently and obviously pandering to the religious right this time around. In 2000, he had harsh words for the likes of Hagee and others.

http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/8313.html

In 2000, [tag]John McCain[/tag] excoriated George W. Bush for kicking off his campaign in South Carolina at Bob Jones University, visiting the campus and delivering a speech to the student body. McCain assailed the appearance, arguing that Bush’s uncritical speech at BJU was tantamount to an endorsement of the school’s policies. John McCain told reporters, “If I were there, I would condemn openly the policies of [tag]Bob Jones[/tag], because I would want to make sure that everybody knew that this kind of thing is not American.”

It was hard to disagree. BJU, of course, is a rigidly Christian fundamentalist school with a record of virulent racism and anti-Catholic policies. (The school, for example, used to ban interracial dating among its students and school officials have repeatedly attacked the Roman Catholic Church, referring to the pope as the “Antichrist” and calling Catholicism a “satanic cult.”)

That was then. Now, the New McCain isn’t nearly as disgusted with the school as he once was.

How would U.S. Sen. John McCain respond to an invitation to address the student body of Bob Jones University? Very carefully. […]

McCain, the current front-runner for the Republican nomination, left the door open for a visit to the university. No invitation has been extended. It’s too early, school officials said.

McCain said he’d have to look at the school’s latest policy statements. “I understand they have made considerable progress,” he said. “I can’t remember when I’ve turned down a speaking invitation. I think I’d have to look at it.”

As the Senate Majority Project noted this morning, McCain, responding to Bush’s speech, said he would have gone to BJU and told them, “Get out of the 16th century and into the 21st century. What you’re doing is racist and cruel!” At the time, McCain added, “Instead, Governor Bush went there and never said a word. I would never, ever do such a thing.”

And what about McCain’s claim that BJU has “made considerable progress”?

Well, to be fair, the school has dropped its ban on interracial dating.

Ah, the sweet smell of politics as usual.

God I hate pandering. I know its an inevitable part of politics, but it just annoys the hell out of me.

The article gets it right.

Hagee is a "pastor backer" of McCain. Not his actual pastor.

I don't think that is accurate. Hagee was McCain's pastor. Just not for too long, and McCain didn't have the close relationship that Obama had with Wright, or the duration of it.

However, imo, this whole condemned, denouncing, and rejecting thing is a little ridiculous imo.

When and where was Hagee McCain's pastor?
