Hunger Games

Well, its just kind of bad practice.

The sushi chef wants you to taste the sushi a certain way, wasabi addition or soy sauce addition should be a delicate mix. Its just kind of sloppy behavior. Its like you're trying to mask the flavor of the fish with such a strong combination of opposing flavors mixed in a slurry.

then why do they give you wasabi!? nobody ever told me i was a cracker azz cracker!

To me, its like people salting their food at a restaurant before tasting it. They do it out of a ritual.

Its not bad to add a little wasabi if you feel the need to augment the flavor of a certain fish, but generally you should trust the sushi chef, unless they suck. But mixing both is a little weird.

i eat like a goddamn aristocrat, napkin in my lap and all that, and unagi is fukking gross. i would use the pickled ginger to make a soft taco

toro is my joint tho

and now the hunger games thread is all about food

Isn't this like part of that twilight series bullshit?

no, its actually a dried and ground up root powder, that is then usually mixed with a quantity of liquid (water) to create a paste. some people think it is in bad taste, when in fact, it is delicious

You ate the playdough in kindergarten just like me, huh?

:)

Stood in line (up here in British Columbia) with my 11 year-old daughter last night to see the movie. She's read all three books and has been giddy waiting to see it.

She liked it, but thought the movie did not do justice to the books - fairly typical.

Never reading the books myself - and just watching it for entertainment value, I found it to be a 5.5 - 6.0 out of 10. Story line is rediculous. Overall quite corny.

I previously took the girls to Twilight - the original of those vampire movies - and I enjoyed it very much. I would have given the movie a 7.5 out of 10. So if that is a measuring stick - then The Hunger Games kind of fails.

You actually liked Twilight? Turn in your man card.

Hunger Games was a good book. Catching Fire was...alright. I couldn't stand the last one and kept rooting for the author to reward me with the particularly violent death Katniss was begging for.

That's pretty much my wife's evaluation of the series as well. She liked the first one and the next two got increasingly worse.

I am completely baffled as to the hype for this movie. the plot sounds lame as fuck. kids in a survival type thing where they kill them each other? can't believe my FB wall of people watching this crap last night at midnight.

The plot really turned me off too when I heard about it. It sounds disgusting. I haven't seen this, but might since it's so popular.
