Gotta bad feeling about this one. My Son was on the phone with a friend last night, in Wilmington North Carolina, in process of fleeing due to a Mandatory Evacuation ...!!!

"Still not sure where its going to hit", not good...

More than 1 million people face mandatory evacuation orders Tuesday in coastal areas of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, as one of the strongest hurricanes to churn toward the eastern seaboard in decades -- currently a Category 4 storm -- nears shore.

Powerful storm surges and winds will pose deadly threats, as will long periods of heavy rain. Beyond the Carolinas and Virginia, the threat of inland flooding extends into next week to parts of Tennessee, Georgia, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania, forecasters said.

landfall. I have friends in Wilmington NC and they boarded up their home and are presently driving toward
Florida. They told me I-95 South has heavy traffic. So, many are evacuating.

Watched video from North Carolina FEMA, they are preparing for the worst hoping for the best. I have much sympathy for those folks up there. One year ago we were cleaning up from Irma. Worst thing about hurricanes to me was checking the storm tracks, knowing it was coming and listening for all of the ifs, buts and how evers. If anyone on this board resides in the Carolinas or Virginia stay safe as you possibly can.

My bad I should have clarified better. My son was speaking with friends in North Carolina in process of evacuation. I have a few friends throughout the Carolinas, tried calling all 5 and have not heard a thing from them. I imagine they too are in evacuation mode.

I have three sons and my name is not Fred MacMurray, LOL...

One lives in Lake Charles, a 2nd in Howell New Jersey, and my baby boy in his mid-thirties lives here in this shithole sandbox they dare call the Mojave...

We moved back to SoCal from Lake Charles in Y2K. One son stayed behind and had to endure Hurricane Rita one month after Katrina. That son is lacking a few marbles. 98% of Lake Charles residents evacuated during Hurricane Rita. No one could get back into the city for 28 solid days thereafter. He was one of the 2% that stayed, enduring no electricity no running water no nothing.

Without FEMA they all would have been screwed. Brings to mind many tornadoes wr endured as a kid without FEMA; and we managed.

Son #2- in LCS, managed to get a cell phone signal after 2 weeks, with no word from him.. Life was utter horror over 28 days. FEMA came in quick passed out generators and rationed gas for them. That one generator could only Power the refrigerator. I cannot imagine being stuck in like Charles without air conditioning in that hot humid hellacious suck ass weather...

I've been lucky. Worst hurricane I entered was Hurricane Camille in 69. Nixon declared state of emergency. We did see a couple tropical storms in Lake Charles from 98-Y2K.
We endured 24-28 inches of rainfall over 24-hrs twice, back 2 back yrs in LCS Swamp Country. Unfathomable almost...

Just heard latest forecast that this thing could strengthen and actually be a five. But regardless when it hits as a 5,4 or 3 their saying its gonna stall and produce 3 to 4 feet of rain or more. 3 to 4 feet of rain??? HOLY SHIT!!! Any of us thats down there get the hell out of there while you can!!

I just thank god that we are not going to get hit that bad I have a friend in Myrtle Beach haven't heard from her at all.

You could always go down there and check on her.... doh-

actually give her a day or 2 and she might just surprise you with a knock on yer door....and bring her folks, family and friends too. Ya' better get busy making pasta and gallons of marinara....

Blows my mind how these dorks stick around risking life. Hurricanes are crazy to stick around in and through, not only avoiding utter destruction from high winds. Worse the storm surge and flooding tides.

North Carolina & South Carolina. Areas in these states are flooded that have never flooded
before. So, the size of a hurricane does not matter, it’s the movement that is crucial.
My prayers go out to everyone who is experiencing this devastation.

I live in NC. Nothing but 20mph winds and semi-heavy rainfall. Florence didn't really affect me.
