No way an assistant coach is shelling out $4,500 out of his own pocket. The money came from somewhere (or someone) and Sark had to know.

SEATTLE (AP) — The University of Washington confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday night that it is looking into recruiting allegations against an assistant football coach following a report in the Los Angeles Times.

The Times said Wednesday on its website that Washington and Southern California, which recently hired head coach Steve Sarkisian away from Washington, are investigating whether Huskies defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi violated NCAA rules by paying for private tutoring and online classes for a recruit.

The newspaper said the allegations involve Andrew Basham, a former defensive lineman and shot putter at Lynnwood High School in Washington. Basham signed a letter of intent with Washington in February, but didn't qualify academically to enroll at the university.

The Times reported that Mike Davis, a throwing coach who helped Basham win a state shot put title, said Lupoi gave him $3,000 for private tutoring for Basham and $1,500 to reimburse Basham's father for online classes.

Lupoi has spent two seasons at Washington after four years at California.

I am shocked, SHOCKED, that Tosh is being investigated for recruiting violations.

LOL.

I think it's funny that every article about him talks about him leaving to follow Sark at USC, but fails to mention that his buyout is his entire salary (and he's already one of the highest-paid assistants in the Pac-12).

The guy has always been sketchy. This just confirms it.
