So I picked up my girl from the Red Lion Hotel in Jantzen Beach a couple hours ago. On the way back to my home in Vancouver, I'm relaxed, sitting in the fast lane on I-5 and there's no ones around me.

Suddenly, as I round a corner, headlights appear on the wrong side of the barrier. It took me a second before I really realized what was happening. This motherfucker is driving the wrong way, in my lane, headed straight for me!!!

In a split second, I slammed on my brakes and veered off to the right out of his way. This dude had to be going 100mph, and I had almost no time to swerve.

Luckily, there was no one to my right, and I ended up fine. Half a mile up the road, a car had been totaled, and they said they lost control swerving out of this dudes way.

Had I not had my eyes peeled, I'd likely be dead right now. I never understood the what it felt like to have your life flash before your eyes until tonight. That was the scariest moment of my life.

Have any of you almost been hit by a wrong way driver?

Years ago, I chased a drunk guy from 136th avenue in Vancouver all the way to Camas. Probably 2003 or so.

The guy was in a cargo van doing upwards of 100 MPH on the Old Camas Highway. He ran a guy off the road. Turns out another guy who was chasing him behind me was a buddy of mine from High School.

He was taken out of the car at gun point and arrested. It was quite an experience. He had many officers from VPD and CPD trying to find him; as there were tons of people calling him in. I never knew what happened to him, but I'm just glad he didn't kill someone. There were several times where he went up on two wheels at about 80-90 MPH. That was scary.

I hope you called the police. Where was this? Not on I-5, I take it?

It was on I5. I was going 70 and he was going 100. We called the police and police showed up to the accident. There were reports of the dude in Portland.

The odds must be outrageous. From this day forward all the small problems are not worth your worries. Surviving death is a miracle in itself. Been there.

Yeah man I got lucky. I feel like I was extra attentive, and that's the only reason I was able to get out of the way. Because it was a corner, his headlights blended with the others, but luckily I was able to notice he was on my side pretty quickly.

My uncle got hit head on on an on ramp.

That's a lot of "on"s in that sentence.

Broke his legs and hips, full body cast for a few months.

My uncle had a little Honda cross the median on Interstate 5 and go under the cable barrier and hit his Dodge truck in the left front wheel which crushed my uncle's feet. There was an article in The Columbian about it.

Freeways are like air travel, the safest but when something goes wrong it can get bad.

Was he high on Meth or what? He had to know he was going the wrong way.

I don't know. I haven't seen anything in the news about him. I don't think they caught him, which sucks. Hopefully they can get his license plate number from one of the traffic cameras. Probably not though.

I was at the Jantzen Beach Home Depot about the same time today. Had a crazy guy almost take off the back of my truck while I was parking. Maybe it was the same crazy dude you ran into? He was definitely not not thinking clearly. Hope there are not two of them out there.

While you're down there, stop by Paul's Cigar Shop and pick me up some sticks.

My short term memory is not very good. I do not trust it, no reason you should.
My impression of him was a white male, 35-45 years old driving a white mid size pickup.

Was driving to tumalo from bend and saw a guy pulled over on the right hand side of the highway. As i got closer i saw cop draw his gun and jump up and down waving his pistol ag the driver. As i passed i saw the driver putting a gun down and he pulled out right behind me. Cop got in his car and started chasing. I was in the left lane and dude was approaching at a high rate lf speed. He turned his blinker on to go around me to the right so i turned my blinker on to fuck with him and then jammed the breaks. Thought he was gonna rear end me and i figured at the least id be hurt i was doing about 50 he was probably doing 80+ but last second he veered left into emergency lane then turned left before i could fuck his escape some more.

This dude was in a black car.

Damn I wouldn't have the guts to break check a dude with a gun running from the cops haha.

Not a wrong way driver ( and that's fucking crazy coming at you the wrong way in the fast lane going 100...i might need a change of pants after survivng that)

One night I was heading around down town on 30 to connect to I5 south and I was in the middle lane. It was very late past midnight, so I guess it was really early morning. So anyway there I am with a friend driving, no other cars around. All of sudden I hear someone coming behind me before I saw their lights, so they were hauling. I look in the rearview the lights are getting closer. I'm thinking this guys going to see me change lanes and go around me. Nope. At the last second realizing he wasn't going to change lanes I swerved into the right lane and hit the brakes. He flew past, lost control and slid in the lane in front of me some feet away and came to a stop his car sitting sideways blocking the lane. Then he took off again, as did I glad to be behind him.

Reading these stories reminds me of some dangerous driving I used to do when I was a teenager. I had a 1989 Chrystler LeBaron 2-door coupe with a 2.5 liter turbo-charged 4 cylinder and 175 HP. That thing was an absolute animal, and I'm glad I grew up, lol.

I did 130+ MPH (I stopped looking at the speedometer after 132) once on I-205 NB from Mill Plain Blvd to SR-500. I just moved over into the far left lane and floored the bitch.

I think the smell of burning oil and the fact that I was burying the electronic tachometer into the yellow was a sign that I should slow down.

I think I had that car for maybe 2 years before the computer finally crapped out in 2002. Probably a good thing....but I miss that car soooo bad.

...did it look something like this? Glad you're OK!

I didnt think i would either. Sometimes it takes being put in the situation to see how you'll react. Freeze fight or flight. I always thought i was a flight kind of guy. But turns out im more of a fighter. I bought the cop enough time to catch up to that fuck head. He was like 30 seconds behind him and after my tom foolery he was right on his tail.

I checked too and didn't see anything either.

But it also means they didn't kill anyone, which is good.
