OT I Aspire To This Guy's Message....

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

It's a two way street though. Yes, it can start from the bottom, but it can also come from above (again, not sure what proper word to use).

I guess it's just a different interpretation of what it means.

I would give your definition, and your posts on the subject, a lot more of the benefit of the doubt, than someone who tends to use the talking points of those who oppress.
Shit flows downhill.

I thought the Robert Woodson interview with Mark Levin was a very good one. Woodson has been addressing these issues for a number of years and continues to fight the good fight, as it were....

This is a great video. More people on all sides of the isle should listen to to.

I'm not so sure certain individuals on the left in here really give a rip about potential solutions such that Robert Woodson put forth here. But, hey, who am I to judge?

Until this country stops pointing fingers at the other guys, we won't have deep conversations or middle ground...because we won't trust that each other give a rip.....I know who doesn't give a rip and I didn't vote for him. Most community outreach programs are from progressive bases...the Republicans have always complained about Dems throwing money at problems....yet offered no funding of civil rights programs. If refunding public safety includes these outreach programs, I'll vote for them...it's that simple. Put your vote into an affirmative action government....not a greedy cesspool of corruption that's self serving.

IIRC, Woodson is a Conservative.

I don't care what you identify him with but my statement is correct....many progressives are conservative....many considered left by your contingency are also conservative...or a mixture of things...it's time to leave the nametags at the door and discuss the issues...I'm not stuck in the problem, I'm interested in the process.....there are several conservatives in this forum who you probably stereotype as liberals...but actually they are just smart conservatives. The Lincoln project is an example....you want a passive aggressive thread or a discussion? I respect the work he's doing. That should be enough. Bashing Trump voters is like shooting fish in a barrel...I can do that all day but when something pops up like BLM and civil outreach...I take it to heart. The problem with total capitalistic greed is it takes the money from the middle class and creates more poverty and more extreme wealth...leaving us with a haves and have not world.....a response to your sig on your acct...Margaret Thatcher was very privileged....ask the Irish

Great, let's see who agrees with us.

I think that's unimportant....you weigh in and express your feelings or opinions and take into consideration the subject, not just the people who agree with you

I'm a minority and say my peace. It's OK.

I've seen your photos here, and I beg to differ...you're a very white looking guy

Funny guy. :)

Anyway, I thought I was bringing something meaningful to the table in here in terms of Robert Woodson's efforts. Effectively, it's a bottom-up approach in the way I look at issue. It doesn't have to stay that way as it serves to bring momentum and eventually collaboration with government agencies, etc.

Personally, I think it's a great model My wife and I will be listening to his book, and are also considering getting involved with The Woodson Center in some capacity. We're researching all of that:

Bringing something meaningful to the table doesn't include divisive language....you cut and pasted what this man brings to the table ABM....which is meaningful. When you walk that walk and bring your story about that, you'll be bringing meaning to your curiousity but what you've brought here is your curiousity....learning from his experience is great...arguing about why you think someone else won't learn from it....well...that's where you drop the ball here. I wasn't trying to be funny when I mentioned that a white guy claiming to be a minority might send the wrong signal...next time maybe identify with unpopular instead of minority...just sayin'

Words are chosen deliberately.

Evidently, you missed my point. When I say that I'm bringing something meaningful to the table here, I'm relating that I'm sharing a compelling idea (yes, from someone else) that goes beyond the tit for tat debates (yet without plausible/legit ideas, answers, and/or action) that we all tend to engage in.

I also went on to say that my wife and I are aligning with Woodson and his message. We're looking into volunteer opportunities with the Woodson Center and also the 1776 Unites Campaign.

I'm speaking of efforts here, not simply message board discussions.

The thread title is a dead giveaway.

That's all fine, but you followed the original intention of your thread up with.....nobody will agree with me because...I'm a republican rhetoric.....in essence derailed your own discussion by excluding forum members and comparing your forum status with them....this is the second thread where you said you were going to work with underprivileged youth ....when you actually do that, I'm interested to learn how it goes....not that you plan to listen to an audio book. Will you carry on this work from the Azores? Will you work with youth when you are traveling in your new RV? At one point in my early 20s I discovered I was an avid reader but hopelessly out of touch with black authors and female authors...I made a point to change that and it was a good move. Gave me much more perspective on views that don't relate to my male outlook on life. I gave a list of authors I think are eye opening and honestly ABM if you do ever become actively involved in underprivileged youth education...you'll have my support behind it all differences aside....aspiring to something is like me saying I'll study Spanish....been saying it all my life but never excercised the discipline to actually do it...I had to learn Mandarin to survive as an expat in Taiwan without being a dependent on a translator...yet Spanish I haven't found the time for for some reason...my son won the first citizenship award for his work with the disabled and elderly in our community...I volunteered for Gleaners organization distributing food to the poor and elderly and ended my work career working with quadraplegics as did my wife.....proud to have walked the walk. Heard a lot of talking the talk over the years.....here's to walking the walk! I sincerely hope you do it

OK, I think most in here know I was being tongue-in-cheek when I say I'm moving to the Azores. Honestly, I think you do, too.

As for my other endeavors, such as traveling in an RV?? Like, what does that have to do with any work I'm involved with in my community?

As for getting involved, we already had plans to volunteer with rocketown, until COVID hit. Those plans are still viable. Stay tuned. I know you will.

As to Woodson's message and group, yes, we will be reading his book, we're already talking about giving financially, and we also want to invest our time, as well. Again, stay tuned on that. I know you will.

That all said, I'm not seeing anyone else in here (save you, to some degree, and @tester551 ) actually show any interest in the message that's being brought forth

Here was my quote: I'm not so sure certain individuals on the left in here really give a rip about potential solutions such that Robert Woodson put forth here. But, hey, who am I to judge?

Just me personally but......I’m over reinventing the wheel. Been there, done it, seen it. It’s time for a whole new wheel. Maybe even a whole new vehicle......

Honestly, I think you do, too.
I think you were tongue in cheek about barfo being your accountant but why would I think you're deceptive about plans to move to the Azores? It's something people do....I lived half my adult life outside this country. Don't find that an obviously tongue in cheek desire. Were you tongue in cheek about the RV experience too?

Sorry to disappoint. BTW, I started a whole thread about RV'ing. Common sense might indicate that it was a serious question.

Who's doin' the reinventin', then?

is this a veiled way of saying I lack common sense? ok........I don't care that you started an RV thread but before that you were going to work with Nashville underprivileged kids....trying to follow your thread chronology here...I will leave you to it now so you can attract interaction with people who have more common sense than I do...again...I'm trying to find some substance in your take on this and haven't found you actually to be engaging opinions that are offered...I'll be .paddling downstream! Do what gives you great joy.....

is this a veiled way of saying I lack common sense?

Not at all, but since you took the time to question my interest in RV's, juxtaposed with my intentions of working with underprivileged kids, I thought I'd just point out that I had actually started a thread on it (RV's) and wasn't being facetious. But, hey, it's cool. No offense was intended on my part.

You should combine the two!
