I was not going to post anything in the Knicks forum for a while (you guys are probably tired of this mrj18 cat) but, I couldn?t help but take notice at two teams in the NBA, known as The Phoenix Suns and The Chicago Bulls. You guys are very familiar with them because we got our starting backcourt from those two teams. Now look at the Suns. The Suns have the best record in the league, and many people think that they will have a 70 win season. I don?t think so, but the fact of the matter is, they are 31-5 and have an amazing wining percentage at 86! After Marbury left, they seemed to be flourishing very well. The only acquisitions they made were acquiring Quentin Richardson, and Steve Nash. Steve Nash was a replacement for Marbury so his acquisition does not really count. Although Q is a great basketball player, his presence alone, would not cause such a change. There has to be more to it than just one good shooting guard. If Q caused that much of a turnaround, than he would be the leagues MVP by a landslide.
Now I would like to switch over and talk about Jamal Crawford. Since the Bulls traded Crawford to New York, they started off very slowly at 0-9 but after that, it was no holding them back as they went to 15-9 after. Right now as we speak, they are the 8th seed in the east. They are doing their thing and no Bull hater can even front about it. They are 6-1 in their last 7 games and that defeat came against the world champion Pistons only by 7 points. One can come up with a fair argument Luol Deng and Ben Gordon have been stellar, but again, it seems very bizarre they are doing this well. Chicago is a team that is in the current playoff mix. I bet you not many people (including me) did think Chicago would be this good.
I just wanted to point out something I thought was interesting. Perhaps these are just coincidences? Or maybe these players have some flaws that need to be worked on so we will not have a similar fate. Before the season, the Knicks were thought to be the Atlantic division leaders and leave the other teams in the dust. Do you guys think these players presence have an effect on what could have been, or what should have been? Very interesting scenario. As I said earlier, I just couldn't help seeing what you guys thought about it.
