And you all know the reason why.

I've never seen Lillard and CJ so impotent. CJ made one incredible layup and Lillard made a nice layup but where was the three point shooting?

Also, someone please tell Nurkic to quit complaining and get back in the game.

This is inaccurate... they actually shot the three well... Dame was 4/9 = 44% and CJ was 4/10 = 40%... the problem was they both reverted back to hero ball... Didn’t get others involved and forced shots... and how can you blame Nurk, he only got 7 attempts... Blazers should have force feed him early to try to get fouls on AD and take him out of the game.

CJ and Lillard must have caught fire in that fourth quarter.

Slept like a baby. After all these years I can turn off the negative. Last time I couldn't sleep was after Damian and .9

Yes Lanny, that was tough. I think the frustrating part for me is, Sure we have no answer for Davis, but they have no answer for Nurk, and we went away from him. He was key to the comeback at both ends. The Blazers "MUST" ride Nurk to wins. He is the key. I don't care if he starts off slow. He is essential to this teams playoff hopes. Plus, then those pesky pels won't be able to double Dame, cause Nurk will eat them for lunch. I'm all for keeping Terry as coach, but if he doesn't use a heavy dose of Nurk, i'm for him getting fired, because not using Nurk is asinine.

Dame didn't get others involved? Dude had 7 assists with his teammates missing almost every shot they took.

Yeah, but what about all those times they fed Nurk and the pass was intercepted?

Dame & CJ both shot 40%+ from 3.

Did you not the watch the fourth quarter? I slept very well last night. After watching 10 hours of basketball, I was ready and I needed to get some rest before 10 hours of basketball today.

Yeah, I think that was late in the game. I record the games and my wife so I can miss all the disgusting commercials. She went fast forward when we got behind by 19 and we got toward the end of the game and were jumping up and down with excitement especially when we were only down by 1 and had possession with nearly as much time on the shot clock as the game clock. I thought we would win by at least 1.

Anyhow, I missed all the good shooting late in the game.

I missed most of the fourth quarter. Basically, just saw the last 2 or 3 minutes of that quarter.

In case anyone was wondering I slept like a baby.

The team that dictates the pace is the team that must be adjusted for. Even though the Blazers had 15 offensive rebounds, the Pels brought down a total of 49 rebounds vs the Blazers 52 total rebounds, and were able to get out on the break. If you want Nurkic in the game, you have to dictate the pace aka make it slower and control the glass. It would actually work out perfectly if we had Boogie, but then we have Boogie.

I wasn't wondering.

You must have been on pins and needles when the Blazers called a time out with just 2 1/2 seconds on the shot clock less than the game clock and down by 1 with possession. I had visions of the famous .9 second shot by Lillard that sunk the Rockets' playoff hopes in a head to head playoff match. Alas, that's gonna have to wait for another time.

if you were in the game thread, I told yall, when the Pelicans play, no lead is safe. They like to let teams back into games, part of that is because we have crap for a bench. but make no mistake I aged a good 3 years watching the 4th quarter

but that's been the Pelicans all season long. idk the stats but most of their games come down to a few shots and actually have the 2nd best 'clutch' percentage in the NBA. but as you saw last night, Holiday, not AD, is actually the guy that takes control & makes plays in the final few minutes of the 4th.

Nobody asked.

The Blazers actually looked better when they ran. We don't have to slow down pace to make Nurkic effective. We should run the fast break and look for buckets in transition as much as possible, and if that doesn't work, then we should fall back to halfcourt pick n roll with Nurkic while spacing the floor.

I believe Terry will make the adjustment to you guys doubling Dame on the pick n roll. It was working because Davis would double off of Nurkic, and a defender from the weakside corner would help onto Nurkic, leaving Turner and Aminu open in the corner. Problem for you guys is you leave so much space for them to dive... If a non-shooter or a struggling shooter is sitting in the weakside corner (Turner/Aminu), he should dive along the baseline to (at least) the short corner for an interior pass. There's so much space open weakside on Nurkic halfcourt pick n rolls that there's space to dive. However, we have Turner, Aminu, and others jacking up corner 3s when they could be diving for open dunks/layups. Open corner 3s are a great shot if they're falling, (which if they were, we would've won by 10).. But they weren't and they haven't been lately, so expect adjustments there.

Back to you original point, why can't we look for more transition opportunities with Nurkic on the court? We can play fast while stopping the Pels from getting out onto the break.

No more sloppy passes.

No more sloppy passes.
That too. I'm tired of us fading a certain way while passing. Come to a jump stop or a solid one-two and find the passing window around the defender. I'm tired of fadeaway-passes that are we try to throw above the defender. They're predictable because, if we're fading a certain way, we have to get rid of the ball or else it'll be a travel. It's the same as a jump pass.

We're pretty clutch too. Lillard Time is a real thing.

I think those of us who are crazy about the Blazers may have had trouble sleeping last night. Well, at least most of us.
There's crazy and then there's me. Not gonna be in a good mood until we win Game 2 and one of Game 3/4.

I agree that we should have gone to Nurk more, much more. lol
Also, Dame wasn't able for the most part to get to the hoop like he has been, Davis was quick and knew he wouldn't dish off. I still think the best strategy is to go directly at Davis by post up with our forward or drive and dish.

as the commentators said at the end of the first half - it was the worst shooting half in history for the DL/CJM combo.

Worst. In. History.

for some ungodly reason/coincidence the bench was able to hit some shots in the quicksand of the struggle and kept us in it. If we're even approaching thinking that the bench will step up like that each time cj/dame go missing i think we're going to be pretty disappoint.

to compete with top class teams we need at least ONE of those 2 to show up and hit some shot, ideally both, but we're really in the shit 99/100 if neither are popping.

i was pretty amazed it was that close in the end, but it was down to an exceptional effort from the bench and ET (argh?!) - i dont think my soul can take that kind of pressure on the regular.

there were also some mind numbing plays right at the end, meyers losing control, and inbounding for a 2pt attempt, if i didnt have semi-new monitors i'd be scared for their life having to go thru that again.....

was just demotivating as it was another game on a big stage where people went missing when we needed them most, and poor choices were the flava of the day, right up to the end.

game 2 needs a stamp from a few of our guys - they need to put it DOWN next time.

and nurk, dunk a fuckin ball when you're that close. jesus.

Ed, you were amazing, but ffs hit them free throws plz.

Evan Turner takes a lot of shit in here but I, for one, like his game. I think he posts up as good as anyone I've seen this season.

And now, Collins is starting to post up.

I'm learning to love the post up when we have a height advantage.

Insufficient beer intake?
