Woooooooooooo!!!!!! I finally got the game this morning. I've been playing since 11, but I'm taking a little lunch break, lol. It is absolutely unbelievable. Anybody else pick it up yet?

I got it yesterday and love it.

I only got to play maybe an hour though, I've been working on a paper.

I got mine in the morning as well. Haven't been able to play yet. (school, got a haircut)

Now I have to watch a soccer match (man utd vs roma), and then I'll play. YEAAA lol

Ordered it from play.com for £16 which is about $33 not a bad price

Wow it's crazy. When you have the ball with Nenad Krstic it actually moves like him. Hand it off to Carter and then it's actually his movements too. So realistic.

I want to go buy it and play it, but I'm sick beyond all belief. Can't breathe through my nose at all... well, actually, I can breathe through the right nostril, just not the left. Yesterday it was reversed. I hate this.

I think I'll fire up the car and see if best buy has it. I need to do some shopping, but I really didn't want to go out today...

I've bought every 2K basketball game since it was ported from the Dreamcast... to be honest I hardly played 2K7 so I am on the fence whether or not to go and pick this up after work. Is it that much of an improvement?

Same here...

I didn't bring my 360 to school so I have to wait until thanksgiving break. 2 months to go! :-(

I have a chance to pick it up today. Should I? What are the differences between 2K7 and 2K8?

Mmmm, same here.

Im going to pick it up tomorrow or the day after, I have to wait for Purolator to deliver my fixed 360 tomorrow from 8am-6pm so I cant really take the risk of going to buy it. Can you please do me a favor CelticBalla32?? Can you check out the Raptors court and tell me if they have the claw at centre court instead of the Dino they had in 2K7, and any additional timbits you could give me on the Raptors squad.

haha yo CB I don't want to sound like every dude in the OS and 2k forums, but since I won't be getting the game for a while I was wondering if you could let me know if they have trades during the draft?

got it this afternoon from school, yah very nicce.

Gerald is 72? wow, I thought he'd at least be a 75 or 77 or something like that but 72 that's pretty bad and Morrison is a 74? JR a 75? Belinelli 78? Caluderon, get a load of this,,, 80???

Graphics are pretty damn good.

One huge problem though. I was playing on Hall of Fame, and the other guy was able to just push over/turbo to dunk, so I only won 134-127 in a close one. How do you stop those plays in this game, you'd think they would have fixed this by now. I know there will be a general way to. The game is overall good. One other thing that is completely inanely idiotic, is that the guy automatically picks up his dribble when double teamed.

Try using a 2-3 zone, and play him lose. Force him to use his jumpshot rather than just cut to the hole. If you can't pick up a charge underneith, try stealing the ball as he goes up for a layup; thats been refined this year.

My brokeass is getting it this weekend, can't wait.

Is there a way to set it for a 2-3 zone for every time down the court?

It wasn't that effective when I did it anyhow. The charges never seem to catch a charge, just a blocking foul most of the time. And the guys rarely get shotblocks for me for some reason. (Noah, Thomas, Wallace, all good shotblockers). If a guy is going up with a weak layup, that crap should be getting swatted by them.

Tyrus Thomas seems to suck at most things. Joakim Noah is a beast in the game though.

IGN REVIEW:

Closing Comments
In many ways, NBA 2K8 is an improved game on the court. But there are a lot of minor issues that really drag it down. Over the course of my first dozen games, I was in love. But as the season wore on, the issues began piling up to a point that it became a source of frustration. The Lock-on D gaff is inexcusable and the lackluster defensive AI allows decent players to tear it up on offense. Jason Williams should not be dropping 30 points a game. Yet he won the MVP in year two of my franchise. Still, any hoops fan should give NBA 2K8 a look. It's certainly the best basketball game on any system this year. The Association is a solid franchise mode and, if VC can iron out its AI and gameplay issues, next year's model could be something very special.

I hope the 2-3 Zone isn't as ridiculously inpenetrable as the previous gen ones were. It was fun for awhile, but after half your team is averaging 5 steals its crazy.

Yeah whats funny is I just spent a good 20 minutes reading a thread debunking that IGN review. Turns out a lot of the problems he brought up with the game can't be found by anybody (with LOTS of video proof to attack the review)

These Videogames always hate on sports games.

No they don't. I just think there is a rampant amount of 2k fanboys on this site, that blindly ignore the many flaws of the game.

Its definitely much improved from 2k7...best one since 2k3. Definitely better than Live. But its not the holy grail some make it out to be. I'd give it an 8.8/10.

I haven't played the game, but from what I hear an 8.8 sounds right.

I agree with everything in this post, even the 2K3 part.

There are a lot of flaws that can be overlooked because the game is so fun and the improvements are significant this year.

i think I'm gonna get NBA 08 for psp. 2k8 isn't for PSP, but i probably wouldn't get it anyways, ever since 2k3, i haven't been a fan. and the demo for ps3 was poop.

Live 08 for psp has been iffy so far. it takes some getting used to, but then again most games do. oh yeah, and for some weird ass reason (developer mistake/joke?) Sean Williams is an 84.

I'd rate it a 9 out of 10 because everything is perfect except in dynasty mode, the CPU teams make stupid trades like Marbury for Andre Miller.

Well white guys just seem to be off. From what I've seen, Hinrich, Nocioni, Khryapa didn't turn out that good. Belinelli was actually decent.

Then you have guys like Ben Gordon, where the face is spot on, but they messed up the hair, which makes it look bad.

The research they did was pretty amazing for the shot styles. Saw a lot of familiar looking shooting styles in there when playingas the Bulls.

I picked it up. Couldn't help myself.

The Blacktop options are fun, though I don't know why they didn't try to make the three-point contest more like the dunk contest in terms of presentation. Also, you need to be familiar with the shooting style of the guy you are using in that, because everyone has a different release. Almost better to go with a good three point shooter who doesn't have a signature style (like Anthony Parker) because it is easier to find the release point.

The dunk contest is exciting but it is really tricky. For some reason 2K loves to make crossovers and dunks very difficult to execute. I guess it plays into the realism/sim style of the game but it can be frustrating when you are missing lay-ups instead of jamming home open looks under the basket. Anyways, the scoring system in the dunk contest is a little strange, I'm still trying to decipher it.

One thing I noticed was that Jordan brand clothing is in the game--does that mean MJ is in the game, as an unlockable perhaps? Long time coming if so.

I did find that faces in the game, overall, aren't great. If you look at the player photos in the game and then at the faces, you can see that the artists went directly from those photos to face design. Sometimes it works but a lot of the time the guys don't look quite right. A little more work needs to go into that.

I guess I'll have more thoughts on this later when I've played a dozen or so games.

I got the game last night and am loving it. I fantasy drafted my team so I can't say anything about how the teams play. However, the players play like themselves. The cell phone bar thing for hot zones is nice and way more intuitive than the hot zones in Live. One thing that I do love is it's actually tough to get steals in this game. In 2K7, I could rack up 25-30 steals a game. I think I only managed about 10 in the game I played last night, so it's a whole lot more realistic in that aspect. I'll have my full review later when I get the opportunity to play more, but so far, I'm loving it.
