Which path do the BLazers take? Do they take the Hornets rout or the Jazz path?

Hornets - A team who made the 7th seed last year after being a top 4 team the year before. They then miss the playoffs and look like a team who is a bad mix of old and young. Could the BLazers end up this way? Miss the playoffs next year after barley getting in this year after coming off a great season last year? Very similar cases here since the hOrnets were darlings of the NBA for a while much like the BLazers. They both also have injury problems with their stars. Paul and Roy both see injury prone.

Jazz - A team who had TONS of injuries last season and made the 8th seed and got bounced quick in the 1st round looking awful. Then they dominate at times this year looking like a top 2 seed. They have the talent like the blazers when healthy to be very good.

So im asking (next year) do you see the BLazers taking either paths? I think both easily could happen.
We could take a major step back if we lose roy or if healthy we could be very good. With Houston, Hornets, and Grizz coming back strong.... playoffs are not a lock.

2009-2010 Hornets miss the playoffs

2009-2010 Jazz make the playoffs and get a top 5 seed

2010 - 2011 Blazers?????

It's a great question ... I'm going to have to think about this one for awhile.

There's no stability in NO's organization so I find it highly unlikely they end up like NO. They tried to trade Chandler at the deadline, who as we know, was great for them when they beat the Mavs.

The Blazers are definitely more like the Jazz and should continue to be a lock for the playoffs for the next 5-10 years. If everyone is healthy, a threat to win the west.

I think it all comes down to how healthly Portland is next season......the talent is there to be a top playoff team, but will the bodies be there at the end of the season. Adding Camby to the mix does help their chances along with what happens with Joel's contract (expiring) at the deadline or before.

heres some more to chew on....

next year is miller our posey? major regression?

next year is miller our posey? major regression?

no because for some reason people thought Posey was the missing key for a team to win the 'ship.....even though hes a bench player

Millers situation is totally different, hes a proven starter that produced in his first year in POR

the truth is...

1. Roy isnt a top tier star who has lots of minor injuries.

2. LA is a 3rd option not a 2nd

3. Oden was the wrong choice and is a bust

4. Rudy is not a good player while batum has emerged as a stud defender with upside.

5. Bench needs a facelift

6. Bayless is a SG whos very average yet has no jumper to be a sg...

7. Webster is the biggest enigma since the riddler

8. Pryz is a nice trade chip next feb

9. Our gm is getting fired

10. nate has been dreadful this post season.

so rizzle... i d say the fucking glass has spilled and fallen on the floor smashing to pieces

I have to wonder how the Lakers would be doing against OKC if they had comparable injuries to the Blazers. Let's see: Kobe done until game 7 with a scoped knee, Bynum out for the entire playoffs with a knee injury, and Artest out for the rest of the series with a shoulder injury. Yeah, might make a difference to OKC's chances.

rizzle... im gonna miss ya after mondays loss. one of the few guys here thats "gets it"

dude...dont leave...i wanna see who you want to pick up in the offseason rather than you coming back when the offseason is all said and done and play monday morning QB

2 things...

1. like i said yesterday.... odd-ignorant

2. im a man of my word rizz... as much as i would like to stay, i made a bet. i will give my final thoughts when the blazers lose monday and what i hope they do tis summer. i think we all know i want kpee fired and replaced by mark w but more to come when season ends.

What will next years Hornets and Jazz be like?

jazz will be a playoff team even without boozer.

hornets will be a 50/50 playoff team....

blazers will be somewhere in middle...

It's not a risk like Posey, who got a long term deal. Miller is a trade chip next season if he's not working out. He + Joel = $15 million in expiring deals.

It seems to me that the lesson that should have been learned from this season, if nothing else, is that the most significant factor in answering MIXUM's question is injuries. The Hornets likely beat out OKC this season if Paul is healthy. The Jazz, could easily have missed the playoffs if it had been Williams rather than Paul who missed a significant number of games. No matter who's on your roster, no matter who the GM is, no matter what deals are made, you can't do diddly if the injury bug bites hard.

I think the Jazz are the better comparison of the two. The Hornets rode a lot of high-point seasons from players. In 2007-08, they had 6 players with a 15+ PER. In 2008-09, they had 2. The closest parallel one might want to draw is that perhaps Andre Miller will collapse, due to age, like Peja Stojakovic did. However, Stojakovic had been leaking productivity since 03-04, in a consistent trend. The same cannot be said for Miller, who has been between 18 and 19 PER each of the past three seasons.

The worst case scenario, IMO, is that Oden is hurt again, Przybilla never recovers and Camby misses chunks of the season. In that case, the team will resemble this year's a bit, though it may do a bit better because it's unlikely Batum will be hurt again. I think the likeliest case is that Oden plays around 60 games and Camby also plays around 60 games. In which case, I think they'll be in strong contention for a top-4 seed.

If Oden has no injury issues at all, the team could be in contention for the top seed. That, of course, is the best case (assuming no major injuries to other players who are lesser health-risks).

really....is that why POR is getting bounced in the first round and the entire board is suicidal?

There is fandom and reality....you are in fandom

What? The board is suicidal because they're a bunch of fuckwits who have no perspective ESPECIALLY one super bionic fuckwit.

Not beause Portland in a glass half empty you tart.

What a melon you are.

So its okay to shit on the team....as long as it goes along with your views....ok...youre so lame

Suicidal? Nope. Just angry the team didn't play hard.

Portland is much closer to the New Orleans situation than Utah. Utah has 2 PF better than our current starter. Where West and Aldridge, are about on the same level.

1. like i said yesterday.... odd-ignorant

Are you under the impression I want you agreeing with me?

Calling me ignorant, if anything, is reassuring.

I've noticed you never have a bad word to say about Nate.

Ahhhhhhhh..... sweet sweet reassurance.....

How many times a night do you play "This Is How We Do It?"

What the fuck are you talking about?

Your proof that Portland is a cup half empty was this message board. That's not proof. It's a bunch of hyper fans throwing their toys out of the crib.

His half empty cup is the Blazers RIGHT? You wrote (see above if needed) people are realizing his Blazer outlook is MORE ACCURATE than theirs... RIGHT?

That, as I said, is A PILE OF SHIT.

sigh...nevermind

You even put in bold "your" and cant figure it out

You can't even follow your own posts. I don't expect you to follow or enjoy mine.

What does Mix-a-lot's "half empty cup" refer to?

Just fill that blank in for me. And then tell me what "Their over flowing cup" refers to and then we'll stick them into your mad lib.

Please define those 2 things for me.

Here's what I think they refer to

Half empty cup: Mix a lot's outlook on the blazers (bad)
Overflowing cup: Those that disagree with him and their outlook on the blazers. (good)
