After waiting 2 hours for service techs to show and nobody coming I decided to cancel cable. The strangest thing happened. They just said ok and cancelled my service, no trying to change my mind by offering crappy incentives or anything like that.

I have Hulu, Netflix and Amazon prime, any other suggestions? How do you Internet only folk watch sports?

Good man!! Don't give them anything!

I think my parents are cancelling Comcast today, if Verizon FiOS shows up.

Honestly I think cable as it stands now is on its way out. Out of the couple hundred channels I had, I watched maybe a half dozen. I assume over the Internet will come a time I can order a la carte. I'm tired of paying for crap I have zero interest in.

This concept has been brought up a lot.

I think over heard and read before that it's a certain price for certain channels like espn costing a bunch, while most channels you get are just throw ins.

So ala carte seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure it will help your wallet much of you're Still paying $20-30 a month just for espn channels

As long as Brian And Ralph Roberts are in the game that ain't going to happen

I get ComCast Bay Area thrown in with the lowest price dish package. Can't get ComCast NW at any price. Why? Because ComCast NW say Dish is unreasonable and won't deal.
Enough of you guy cancel ComCast, I imagine a deal would happen real soon.

Good for you. As soon as I get Verizon FIOS in my area, my Comcast internet will be gone. Already shit-canned their cable years ago.

I repped every damn one of you in this thread. cuck fomcast!

Dish or DirecTV get you over 100 channels for under $30.

This is true. It always sounds like a good idea, because of the hundreds of channels you don't watch. But ESPN, or whatever, would raise their rate high enough to screw you over.

who really needs espn? if they went away there is more than enough to keep me informed... in fact, i think there are more informed sports people that dont have espn.

All I really want is to watch the Blazer games! It's KGW or nothing for me right now.

So went to a pub for tonight's game and had a blast. Between friend, pubs, family and the occasional live game I'll still get most Blazer games. I'm cheating the system and am using my parents password to get espn live via an app. I think there is one for tnt also. Those added to Netflix, Amazon prime, Hulu, and the Internet I have more TV still than I need and I'm saving a good amount.

I feel real happy with my decision right now.

repped again!

League pass broadband and goatd.net

That's my site. I cancelled Comcast years ago. I use Clear internet, $40 per month permanent, includes tax. I don't watch TV except Blazer games. But the goatd.net site has TV shows every night. (I find them too boring to watch.) You can get daily news and documentaries, like

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/videos/

Just look up the network and they have many complete shows for free. All I care about is nonfiction, like science and history. I outgrew fiction at age 15.

WatchESPN, MLB At Bat, and vipbox...

Canceled my comcast 7-8 years ago when it exceeded full coverage insurance on my pickup truck. Put an antenna on the roof that paid for itself in 3 months including the tripod. Now I have free TV.

So goatd.net, when I click it wants my credit card info but says I will not be charged. Did you folk who use it have to give your card info? I hate having to do that but if everyone does it with no issues I'll feel better about it.

Got burned on these this summer before I moved. I had dropped cable and went with internet-only (there's only one provider for us here, and eff their rates, right?). But even though I was using BrightHouse internet, since I wasn't buying their cable service they wouldn't let me use WatchESPN or mlb.TV over their internet.

I still have Comcast but was using watchespn last night no problem. Trick is using a different subscribers info.

I don't know what goatd.net but I sure wouldn't give them my CC info, lol.

Yeah absolutely not. That sounds too fucking sketchy.

As for Verizon FIOS and its problems... I understand. But to say it's worse than Comcast..... I dunno if ANYONE can take that crown.

It's case by case. Frontier fucked me, when I told Comcast about it they gave me a killer deal. You just have to know how to play comcasts game.

Apparently I did not know how to play frontiers because they were assholes.

I'll be waiting for Google , hopefully they kick both Comcast and frontiers Asses. At the very least, it will give you a third pawn I'm using the companies against each other
