"After assault, Defendant proceeded to go online to local Portland basketball forum to brag about punching Victim".

yeah, I'd request this thread be deleted.

If I was in the wrong I'd be worried. But it was completely self defense.

Way to go! Those dicks think the rules of the road don't apply to them. They run stops signs routinely ....

I don't have a problem with them breaking the rules a bit here and there but they need to be right every time.

Somewhat related there are tons of YouTube videos where motorcycle morons get road rage and do stupid shit to drivers. Some of whom weren't paying attention very well but still.

Being on two wheels makes you more vulnerable so you have to watch out for yourself.

I just saw this on the news. This idiot bike rider is lucky not to be in jail. He's doing well over 100, and probably close to 120. Weaving in and out of traffic like that, is stupid. BTW-yes, I have done the same shit in my stupid young days.... Anyways, that was pretty retarded to let that footage out....

The drunk in the car could have killed people.

My 2 cents is you punched an asshole who had no business being on a public road and assaulted you....asshole, tweaker, espresso junkie, angry human.....whatever....I've definitely been threatened by cars more often riding a bike than I've seen bicyclers threaten motorists though...in fairness but not in Portland....you might consider deleting this thread though for insurance reasons...just sayin'

This is typical North Portland type stuff. Anybody who grew up around here can attest. Sometimes shit goes down and you can't back down.

I just wish these cyclist types get a fucking clue.
Sucks if it's that bad.....I've had the opposite experience but not in Portland as I mentioned...the stress with the shit you had to deal with really sucks....I hope it goes away soon man.....I have empathy for that shit

True. The bike rider could have killed himself, or caused someone else to swerve off the highway too. I've passed people like that (and I am not proud about it), and I have had riders pass me like that. Flat out- it's wreckless driving.

I'm going to watch KPTV to see if I'm on there. If not, I think I'm in the clear.

We should merge this with the "I just beat up a homeless man" thread.

Joking aside, you had every right to defend yourself. I bike, but I'm not a douche. There are dumb/terrible people in every walk of life. Glad everyone was ok, with only a little damage to an ego/face.

Actually in Oregon you have no right to defend yourself...except on your own property via the castle doctrine

Tip your semi over on the sidewalk? No ticket!

Once again, a semi driver heading north on SE Grand has been going too fast, and missed the left turn onto the Morrison bridge ramp, tipping the vehicle over onto the bridge sidewalk. I’ve personally seen four of this type of crash at this location in the last decade. As far as I can tell, there hasn’t happened to be a pedestrian injured in any of these incidents.

The latest was on 8-7-17, about noon. I asked one of the Portland Police officers if the driver would be ticketed for reckless driving. He said, no, the driver is young, and just starting his career. “What purpose would it serve?” said the officer. “He’s already going to pay for the damage” “We can’t issue a ticket because we can’t find that he did this intentionally. He wasn’t DUII.” I asked if rolling your truck on a turn wasn’t evidence of reckless driving, or driving too fast. “He says a car cut him off. If we find a bicyclist under the trailer when we lift it up, then we’ll charge him”.

So there you have it. Tip a 40-ton vehicle onto the sidewalk? It’s not reckless driving. It is just, as the officer said, “an accident”.

Should have been ticketed.
