I'm a big fan of Porter and Strickland. Now, does Lillard have the potential to be better than those guys? It appears so. Especially with the way the NBA is now. While the PG is certainly a very big part of the game, I feel like there was a time that the PG position was kinda de-emphasized. Now, with the exception of a team or two extremely loaded at all other positions, everyone is looking for a PG to really be the catalyst (like they should be), and a lot of current thinking seems say that you need an elite PG to be a top-tier team. So now the spotlight is on PG's again, and like anything else, with the extra hype/attention on the position, there's a bigger opportunity for people to see him, hear about him, etc. Hype and media attention often leads fans to think players are better than they were (and on the opposite side, Terry Porter didn't get a lot of attention, and thus, outside of Portland and real NBA analysts, I don't think many people realize just how good Porter was).

But Porter and Strickland were solid ballplayers. I like Lillard's potential to unseat them, but I'm not going to just hand it away freely and without it truly being earned. Lillard has to take it, and I believe he has the potential to take it.

Obviously this is all very subjective anyway (but part of the fun in debating it)...... This goes back to the whole, "Is Roy the greatest Blazer of all-time?" discussion. Part of being great (or the best or whatever) is the longevity, being relied upon, health, etc. Roy COULD have been the greatest Blazer ever. But all we're really left with at this time is "What if?"

Damon never lived up to the hype once we acquired him. I loved him, wanted him to be so rad, but he never quite put it together like some people expected him to.

I have always felt like Damon Stoudamire was underrated here in Portland. I remember when the Blazers traded for Damon fans in Portland where really excited and really involved. It was not till the so called "Jail Blazers Era" people began to think differently of Damon and it definitely over-shadowed is play on the basketball court. Damon was a big part of that team and he was also a big reason for the slogan "Jail Blazers."

How did Portland do after Pip beat out Mighty Mouse for the PG spot?

37-16 in '03. Almost a .700 record.

Pippen is a top 50 all time player. He has to be in the discussion for best player on any team he played on.

Lets also not forget Pippen reached the Conference Finals without Michael Jordan in 94-95 and should have been MVP. Pippen did far better without Jordan than Jordan ever did without Pippen and that's a fact Jack!
