I NEED SOME SPORTS! The Movie Thread

Whiplash isn't a sports movie in that it's about drumming, but damned if it's not a great sports movie. It's about a teacher (coach) who pushes the boundaries to try to get perfection out of his student (athlete), preparation for big events (games) and what happens when you take it too far.
"Whiplash" made me then think of "Whip it"--which is (I believe) a roller derby movie. I think that counts.

NBL Finals. Andrew Bogut... It’s the best we’ve got boys n girls!

Miles Plumlee out there too
Not anymore, they've just cancelled the rest of the series.

Having consulted with the Australian Basketball Players’ Association we have decided the remaining games shall not be played. With Perth leading the best of five game series 2-1, we will now consider a decision on the outcome of the championship over the next 48 hours.

Ooh, ooh, Kingpin! The BEST Farelly Bros. movie.

Oh yes, Ernie McCracken...he is probably with Mrs HCP right now.

Cast Away--I haven't seen it, but I hear it's about a man dealing with his volley ball addiction while in isolation. Seems like a perfect choice for the current times.

Wow that’s really weird...
Turns out Sydney pulled out of the series, and refused all suggested options of completing the series. Perth was willing to play, and is now demanding they be name champions.

On another note, the Australian Football League will announce today whether their season will start tomorrow as scheduled. So there may still be some sport on.

Breaking Away with Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid, Jackie Earle Haley and Daniel Stern.

Perth has been awarded the Championship.

There's a great little film I saw recently where a man must decide if he wants to continue on with his passion for running, or let his unsupportive family and community drag him down. I think he made the right choice. The part where all the people come out to join him in the end is the best. Here's a clip.

I'm gonna go with Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty.
