I think the Rockets will knock us from the 8 seed with that deal.

Hate to say it but hat team is gonna score lots of points. I dont see them not making the playoffs unless martin gets hurt. With roy being iffy and the rockets making this deal, i think we are on the outside looking in by next week.

If only kpee had traded for a center! damn you, kpee!

barfo

Yay. A deal came that made Mixum happy again! Rejoice, rejoice.

Losing Landry hurts them this season. Next season when Yao comes back they will be in good shape.

Marc Stein just reported that three-way deal with Knicks is done -- TMac to Knicks, Hughes to Sac, Jeffries to Hou with 2012 first and right to swap in 2011. Landry, Dorsey to Sac, Martin to Hou, no word on Sergio. Looks like Hill stays in NY.
Justin (STL,MO)

Does Martin fit in with the Rockets
John Hollinger (1:21 PM)

Like a glove. Great deal for Houston. If Yao is healthy they'll be really dangerous next year.

I don't agree Mixum. I think moving Landry for Martin was a total bonehead move. Landry > Martin IMO.

Y'know, I'm shocked--SHOCKED--that Mixum would come to this conclusion.

Meaning NEXT YEAR ;)

Houston long term did pretty good. Short term I don't think they are better either. We will see how long it takes them to get on the same page.

The Rockets took a hit this year, but will be really good next year. I think with Paul's knee injury and this trade, we're in an excellent position to make the playoffs this year, even if Roy sits.

Next year, however, Houston is going to be VERY good.

While I don't think your a troll and I do believe that you are an actual Blazer fan, you always seem to find the negative in anything. We sign Marcus Camby.........great but........Its too late, yada yada yada. Why didn't we sign him earlier etc. Those are the things you say on here. You seem to "Thrive" off the negative Blazer news rather then focus on anything that does happen with the team that is positive.

How about this. Decimated by injuries this team is still playing hard, competitive basketball most every night and are still in the playoff hunt. Is that not good enough for you? What do you expect from them this year. Even if we make the playoffs which I think we will we will most likely be one and done but I thin making the playoffs after all the sh*t that has happened this year would be an amazing accomplishment.

Again, while I don't view you as a troll your constant negative dribble grows old and I wish that you could enjoy "your team" a bit more. It must be torture for you to wake up everyday, log onto a computer and waste hours of your time trying to convince everyone why Kpee sucks, the Blazers suck, Nate sucks, etc.

There is only so much playing time for wing players on the floor at once. They have Battier and Ariza already. I just don't see him making much of a difference because there is only so much playing time for wing players on the floor, and while on the bench waiting to play, somebody is not in the game making a difference. It's kind of like here in Portland. Depth does you no good if it never plays a minute on the floor.

So let's see......

Houston trades T-Mac, Landry and Dorsey

for

Kevin Martin, Hilton Armstrong, Jered Jefferies, Jordan Hill, a #1 from a scrub team, and the right to swap #1's from that same scrub team.

Sounds to me like we might have been able to make a similar deal with Raef, Blake and Outlaw. Instead, we sat on our ass.

Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, a #1 and the right to swap #1's with NY >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Andre Miller, Marcus Camby

stop it.... your being negative about the blazers. your gonna make half the forum cry

We are slightly different Mixum. You are negative, I am a realist. I just say it very bluntly.

What part of that trade would have helped us? 5 more bench players? I thought we wanted to consolidate. Kevin martin is a good player, but he still would sit behind Roy.

Completely different situation at last years trade deadline. No way one can predict that the Blazers could have made a similar deal last year.

I don't think Sactown would have even thought about trading Kevin Martin last year for pretty much salary relief. Also how do you know that KP didn't make an offer like that?

Looking at trades that have gone done these last few days and say that we could have made those same trades last year kind of kills that "I'm a realist" thing don't ya think?

Stop using logic. The moratorium on making happy posts 1 day after a trade is clearly over and the forum members are bellyaching for no reason per usual.

We had offers from teams for Raef.

Carter and 2 #1's is the offer that has not been confirmed as more than a rumor by different newspapers. Absolutely horrible we didn't take that

Keep drinking that kool aid. What flavor is it today?

The flavor is logic. I'm guessing you don't know what that taste like. I'll try to describe it:

When making trades, a lot of factor are considered, a huge factor is money. The financial situation of the NBA is much different from last year. The free agency situation is much different this summer. The Kings didn't have Evans last year. T-mac wasn't available last trade deadline and still had another year left on his huge contract. And so many othre factual differences from last year, I don't know where to stop.

So I know it sounds like "hey, we could have made this deal last year" . . . but that is more about drinking kool aid and believeing what you want rather than actually looking at it factually.

To be blunt . . . that is just stupid thinking.

I said a similar deal, not this deal.

Raef Lafentz had been called the greatest trade chip in history by KP on more than one occasion last year. Instead of using it, we sat and did nothing. Instead of using Blake and Outlaw's brilliantly constructed contracts, we sat and did nothing.

Keep drinking that kool aid. What flavor is it today?

The flavor is logic and it was made by Tyreke Evens. Evans rise made Martin expendable THIS year, last year Martin was basicly untouchable.

It sure is easy to be a realist from your couch looking in your rearview mirror isnt it?

Evans' rise this year is similar to Rose's or Love's last year. By your logic, shouldn't Hinrich and/or Jefferson have been similarly available last year? Wouldn't either of them have been of value to us?
