I was wrong

I just don't understand trading martell for him... it didn't make sense then and it definitely doesn't make sense now.

my first sentence wasn't exactly disagreeing with you on the eyeball test. But to say he isn't a good athlete is as wrong as comparing him to 198 pound Adam Morrison and his 30" max vert. It's possible that he gets more comfortable with the NBA speed down the line and is able to show his better then average athleticism... I imagine the NBA is a pretty significant step up from the WAC

STOMP

Babbit looks like he's thinking too hard; it's the same problem LMA used to have before he went all Jedi on us.

Of all the garbage you've been wrong about with the Blazers record-wise and all that. You come out and admit you were wrong about Babbitt?

Too Tooly for Schooly.

i was hoping to be wrong about the blazers season.

however i can tell you id bet the farm that babbit will never amount to bench duty in the nba. 2 years he will be perminant dleaguer or in europe.

And you also would "bet the farm" that the Blazers were going to lose to the Nuggets last night. I'm not sure I've ever seen somebody be as wrong as often as you... it is actually quite impressive.

Yea I'd take Khryapa over Babbit any day...god that is sad to say

It's the biggest Pritchslap of KP's career.

He really let the organization have it with this move.

Worst Blazer draft class since the Khryapa/Monia/Ha days?

Pretty much. I can't believe I defended the trade at the time. Talk about naive!

The Blazers may have treated KP like crap - but he should be ashamed of himself for doing this. Not one of those guys will be in the NBA in 3 years.

Besides the obvious Roy and LMA, Rudy was the only other good pick KP made. The rest were trash

People said the same thing about Cunningham.

Batum was a trade.

Also, it's not like Webster is lighting the world on fire. He's coming off the bench for one of the worst teams in the NBA and he really hasn't improved. That move was for money as much as it was for Babbitt anyways. Blazers used that extra money to sign Matthews.

How many farms do you actually own? I am guessing you are now farmless based on your predictions this season.

They just wanted to get Martell's contract off the books. And I think getting rid of him helped is in our offer for Matthews?

But yeah, this Luke Babbit kid does not look like a good prospect. I'd expect someone at #16 to at least be a decent bench player.

I always thought it was to make room for Matthews.

Actually Mixum is right this time. Totally right!! (No doubt in my mind whatsoever).

how can anyone claim Elliot Williams will be out of the league in 3 years when he hasn't even shown any evidence either way yet?

Let's wait till the guy plays before we dog pile on him.

Seriously. And Armon really wasn't any worse than Patty has been.

I have heard over and over again that Babbit kills it in practice but shouldn't some glimmer of that show up on the court.

I keep hoping to see it but I never do.

Last night was just another disappointing performance for Babbit's rookie season.

Perhaps he will work his ass off with Bill Bayno in the off season to improve some of what he lacks?
Since he is under contract for at least 2 more years you might as well hope for improvement instead of assuming he will suck forever.

After all, JJ Redick was absolute shit his first year and he has turned himself into a serviceable (though certainly not star level) player.
That's probably Babbit's ceiling.
A 6'10" JJ Redick.
Portland could (and has) do much worse then that.

yea he was overall. but he also lacks mills' confidence and experience so it's hard to tell what his ceiling really is.

No, he got pulled from the rotation because he started calling his own number and running into triple teams. Lack of confidence is not an issue for Armon.

 The guy is barely old enough to drink legally, hasn't played a single NBA game, and already has 2 bum knees. The deck is stacked against him and then some.

Speaking of pre-draft medical red flags was Elliot the player "dangerous" to draft?

I still have a glimmer of hope that Armon might turn out to be something, but frankly there was some decent evidence that last year's draft was going to be pretty mediocre (though it was thought to be deep for some reason) I still have trouble trying to figure out what KP was actually thinking by adding three youngsters to the lineup, except as a money saving move (or maybe he really was laying down a big "eff U" to Paul for canning him?).

Oh well, let's just hope Cho can remedy the situation.

It is behind retarded to make absolutes right now on any player thats age is under 30 on the blazers. Yea Babbit looked lost last night, played hard but was ineffective and defiantly had the deer in the headlights look but he is still a rookie who has played what 38 minutes TOTAL this season? Give him a little bit of a break until we actually get a decent sample size of him.

But WHY has he only played 38 minutes? Until now, outside of Batum, he's been our only other pure SF on the roster. The minutes were there for him. He just wasn't good enough to claim them.

Don't be dissing Elliot Williams yet, though, guys. He was throwing down some wicked dunks at Fan Fest. Let's let him get healthy before calling him a bust.

He's not a pure 3, though. He's a 3/4 hybrid... perhaps in a bad way, of course, but he isn't quick enough to guard many small forwards.

Yeah... I think that counting him out already is premature.

I, for one, cannot wait to bump the shit out of this thread.

I think mills, Johnson, babbit are all gone by next October assuming theres a season

This is a ridiculous statement in my opinion. Babbit's on a 3 year rookie contract. There is no way that the Blazers cut him outright. Could they trade him, sure, but if Babbitt's so bad, why would anyone want him? If he's traded it's because he is a throw-in. I doubt both Patty and Johnson are both gone. Nate seems to like 3 PG's on his team. Neither are under contract for next season, but odds are at least one of Patty or Armon are on the team next season as the 3rd PG in my opinion. The odds that none of the three are on the team next season if there is a season is less than 10% . The only way I see it happening is if 2 new PG prospects are added to the team, maybe TJ Ford and Petteri Koponen or Petteri and a rookie PG and Babbit is traded. If you are banking on this Mixum, prepare to be disappointed.
