I will be a fan of Kanter for life

Now. Im wondering if we are entering a situation like denver had?

Two big starting centers.
Nurk is still an unknown if he will ever come back 100% the same.

Then there is a young Kanter. Shoulder will heal fine with rest.

Trade Nurk for more pieces and salary and sign Kanter for the future?

Man. Poor Nurk if that happened yet again to him.

That might be the dumbest thing I've seen on this board and that is saying a lot considering I have almost 30K posts of my own on here to wade through.

They chanted for him multiple times during the game.... but it wasn't the usual two syllable - two syllable chant.

It was just "Kanter! Kanter! Kanter!"

They should really chant "MVP" when he's at the FT line (as long as the team is way ahead)

Let's enjoy Enes while it lasts. Other teams are watching him play too and someone will throw money at him, where we won't be able to compete.
Let's say $10-$12 mil.
Here is the more likely scenario: Enes signs with another team (Hornets). His new team stinks and midway through next season, we trade Meyers for Enes.
I think he agrees to an amount that keeps him here next year with year 2&3 pay days.

He's not playing like a guy who is going to immediately sign somewhere else when they throw a bigger offer at him.

He's playing like a guy who loves this team more than he loves himself.

Well, you could've said the same thing about Theo Ratliff back when he was in Portland.

You could also say he's playing this way to show a team he'll go all out for the team, which is a great selling point for his services.

This off season will go a long way to show the pull of Damian Lillard. If he can get Curry, Hood and Kanter to re-sign (at the most the Blazers can offer each of them), it will start to show that players WANT to play with him.

As much as Enes is wonderful and deserving of all our love and respect and no matter what happens, he isn't Jusuf.
But he's dam close.

We have a bunch of ending contracts next year. Not impossible that we trade some of those, get under the tax, and then have the full MLE that we could throw at him.

Question.

Is it possible to sign a future contract or a heavily padded contract in later years?

Like sign him for mle for one year with gursntee of another salary?

Or sign him but on a salary where he gets paind mle wage next year but more in later yesrs?

Say:

Year one...4.2 mill
Year two...5.9 mill
Year three...9.9 mill
Year four...15 mill

He has already been paid. He doesn't need money right away.
There are limits as to how much the raises can be. It's usually limited to 4.5% or 7.5% depending on the type of contract.

Then restructure it into a new contract in a year or two. There has to be a way.

No, you can't restructure contracts like that. The rules are specifically designed so that teams that are over the cap can't do shit like you're suggesting. There is absolutely no way around this.

These are currently the only two possibilities this summer:

1) Kanter signs the Tax-MLE for $5.3 million.

2) Blazers make a trade that opens up the ability to get the Full-MLE and sign him for about $9 million. However this option also comes with being hard capped and most likely having to let Aminu, Curry, and Hood go too without much ability to replace them.
