I Wonder If Matt Barkley Should Have Declared Early...

I dig the NBA's age limit, but I agree 100% when it comes to coming out early in the NFL.

Just look at the guys from South Carolina. Clowney would have probably been the unanimous #1 pick if he were allowed to come out this year, and yet, if Lattimore had come out a year earlier, he'd be a top NFL running back right now instead of an injured fourth round pick.

Lattimore could be a huge steal for my Niners. They don't need to rush him out there (barring any changes/injuries), but he has the potential to be a star running back in the NFL.

The Niners are fucking stacked at RB. So much so that I think they might have to make a trade.

Gore
Hunter
James
Lattimore

Someone is going to have to go.

Nah, I think they can basically redshirt Lattimore, and I don't see LMJ as an every-down back. Do you?

And Gore's about 2 weeks away from being 30. Ask Shaun Alexander fans what happens to previously outstanding running backs who hit 30. :dunno:

I think that both the Niners and Hawks did well to bolster their running games (SEA runs the ball the most in the league, and I imagine the 49ers are up there). I don't think it's a gots-to-go situation yet.

I don't think LMJ is an every-down-back, but they also have Hunter. James didn't play much at all until Hunter went down with an injury. I think James earned more playing time, so where exactly do they fit him everyone in? Gore is still going to get his carries, Hunter is too good to sit, and James is good enough that he should get some PT. Even if they do redshirt Lattimore, I wonder how they'll keep everyone happy. Plus they have Anthony Dixon under contract.

Don't they have Anthony Dixon as well or is he a free agent? If they still have him then I would guess he is the one to go.

They do. I added him in the post just above yours. I think they brought him in as a third-down back or some such business. I'm not sure how much they're paying him, but I guess I could still see them keeping him for that purpose.

3rd down back? I thought he was more of a big bruiser guy? He seems a little doughy on TV at least.

Hunter is coming off a fairly serious injury, and with Gore getting up there..... They're deep at RB, but given the injury situation, the depth is a positive situation and they can ease Lattimore into playing time.

Isn't Gore a free agent at year end? It wouldn't surprise me if Gore is gone after this season. Lattimore is a wild card, right now, I have the most faith in Hunter. Dude is definitely talented.

Gore is still solid, but he's not as dominant as he used to be. I could see him moving on.

What's the problem with Collin Klein? I see that he just signed with the Texans for their camp, but damn, I didn't even realize he available in this draft.

How is a guy that was a Heisman candidate all year long, who led a mediocre program like K-State to the Fiesta Bowl, considered a completely undraftable prospect as a QB? What am I missing here? All year long, I watched "Optimus Klein" cut through Big-12 defenses, yet apparently, he's undraftable, even in the 7th round...

Ever heard of Jason White?
