Obviously not the player he was 5-6 years ago but this is exciting nonetheless for me. Ichiro is the player that made me a fan of the Mariners and baseball in general.

I’m thrilled to see 51 on the field again in Mariner blue (and probably for the last games of his career).
The M's could definitely use the depth, but I really hope they didn't pay that much for him. I was never his biggest fan, but I've discussed that here before. He is 44, so I'm not going to my hopes up that he will perform. All I really want is an ALCS series win. Something Ichiro has never led any team to in the past.

I don’t think he will play much at all. Outfield is pretty set. But I wouldn’t mind using him as a pinch hitter/runner.

That would be fair at the right price. With Gamel out to start the season he will probably get some PT, but who knows. Seems more like resigning Griffey so he could retire a Mariner, situation.

I'm thrilled! Nothing beats having a legend retire with the team he made his name with...big fan...sure he's 44 but he's a smart ball player...he'll help you win some games ...probably not play him big minutes

I dont follow much baseball. I watch the world series but thats about it. The Mariners, are one of two teams never to play in a world series so havent seen much of them. Did go to a mariners game once when I was up in seattle with some friends. They played the Yankees and got their asses kicked. I do remember that Ichiro was on the Mariners then.

It's exciting but if you don't have pitching you might as well forget it.

I didn't know he left either. Years ago
