MTP's problem isn't that it's boring, but that both sides aren't hammered equally. There was no doubt where Tim Russert stood politically, but he would drop his bias once he got on the set and make Democrats squirm as much as Republicans.

I've seen Todd on MSNBC a lot and he's not so willing to look partisan.

You have to look at who's governing and who's willing to come on the show full of MSNBC talking heads. The result is pooooor ratings.
