If Aminu were a FA this off season

Last season Aminu was every bit as feast or famine as Batum, if not more so, with less offensive production, and zero ball handling or passing skills, but never got called on it.

Bc he's half the price

People seem to hate Aminu.... and he can certainly be frustrating at times, but I never get the impression that he's coasting, which was an issue that I had with Batum.

His effort is consistent, his shot no much. I still think Aminu should be a bench player, but I don't miss Batum slowing down the offense and being unable to create his own shot.

Except he wasn't horrific offensively in all but a few playoff games. Yes, he got off to a slow start against LAC and was hesitating on his shot, even when wide open.

Crabbe also got off to a horrible start in the LAC series. He scored a total of 6 points in the first three games and didn't hit his first 3 of the playoffs until halfway through the second quarter of Game 4 of the LAC series.

Game 4 of the LAC series is also where Aminu came alive. Without his 30 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks, we probably don't win Game 4 and go back to LA down 3-1 and likely don't win that series.

But, it was the GSW series where Aminu really played consistently well. He scored above his season average in every game, didn't have a single bad shooting game. In the five games against GSW, Aminu scored between 14 and 23 points in every game. He averaged 17.2 ppg and 8.4 rpg on .536 FG% and .552 3FG%.

If anything, Aminu was our most consistent player in in the GSW series. Lillard scored a lot, but he also had three horrific shooting games (8-26, 10-30 and 7-24). C.J. shot pretty poorly for the entire series. Crabbe had a good series overall, but even he was up and down - like he was in the LAC series.

Overall, Aminu's TS% in that series was .687 and he didn't have a single "horrific" offensive game. Overall, in the playoffs, he was at least as consistent as his teammates, more so than most. All of Lillard, C.J., Plumlee, Crabbe, Harkless, etc. all had some horrific games. It doesn't seem fair to single out Aminu when he had more good games than bad ones.

Is he inconsistent, sure, but overall, he did not hurt his value in the playoffs. Unless you think everyone else on the team did, too.

BNM

Sure, Crabbe didn't make a 3-pt'er his first three games, but he was only a combined 0-5. Aminu, on the other hand, was 4-20 over those same games. He then exploded for 6-10 in game 4 before dropping back down to 2-11 the final two games. If you ignore the one exceptionally hot shooting night, he was 6-31 for 19% for the series. That's hurting the team, badly.

Crabbe's quiet start had minimal impact because he wasn't jacking errant shots at a high rate. That's my main issue with Aminu: lack of a conscience. Guys should know their limits. He's not limited in the normal sense, as he can do a bit of everything. He's just always on the verge of being out of control but still has that unflappable confidence that every wild shot is a great one.

I'll concede the point that Aminu shot much better against GS, but if it weren't for LAC being leveled by injuries, we get run out of the gym in the first round and Aminu is as much to blame as anyone.

So on one side, we have "If we would have lost to the Clippers, Aminu would have been to blame."
On the other side we have, "If Aminu doesn't have an incredible game 4, we would have lost to the Clippers."
So basically, if Aminu didn't have an amazing game 4, it would have been Aminu's fault that we lost.

But we didn't lose to the Clippers, so...yay?

Chief was a huge factor in the end run of the regular season helping us get the 5th seed. Another thing I noticed was how many times he made a game changing shot...momentum shot, or got a crucial rebound. All that after guarding some of the toughest assignments in the game. He's still young too.

Knowing the market, I think Aminu gets 4/$80mil in this offseason, probably from the Knicks.

Batum was just famine. When did he score 30 to help us win a playoff game?
