Never mind the salary gap....would this have been a fair trade? I mean this is what it has come down to. Jerami has stepped it up this past year in Detroit!

Sorry it was supposed to say WAS a straight up trade. Can Mods change this? Thanks.

I guess I need something to feel good about this off-season.

most trades aren't really 'straight up trades

but in this case, it's more like it was CJ for Hart and Grant
Don't forget Larry, he's a legit role player in this league. A great guy to have off the bench and starting if your starting PF goes down with an injury.

So it was CJ and Larry for Hart and Grant... in the end it was a good trade for us. In the middle it seemed awful but I guess Joe might have known that Detroit needed to clear out that cap space.

Larry's never healthy. I like him but I wouldn't want to be the team paying him.

Doing the trade also helped plunge us into the lottery to grab Sharpe. Someone I think will be an absolute star in this league.

Yeah, I hate it when people factor our tank into the value of either of the trades we made last season. It has nothing to do with it. It's a byproduct not the product. If we wanted to... CJ wasn't in a contract year, we could have sat his ass too. So that's not an added perk or anything. We decided to tank last season and that's what got us Sharpe who I'm very high on but no that's not part of the value we received in the trades.

If CJ and Jerami was a straight-up trade, I would be fine with it. I'd prefer that it was CJ for Anunobi, but balancing the line-up at both ends ... it's worth it, IMHO.

Right now I firmly believe we're already a better constructed roster than we started last season with..our bench should be way better and our core is one piece away unless Nas starts at the 3

Nah. C.J. is a far superior offensive player than Grant will ever be. Grant isn't as good defensively as people think he is. C.J. is better. Plus, Grant leveraged his way to Portland so with that context in mind, C.J. would've been an overpay.
