Nobody is manufacturing anything. There are elements of the "christian" right that have been spewing this BS for years. It's called fear-mongering, and they "use it to turn people to you."

You didn't, but you said why aren't we looking at what you called "left" preachers like Wright say. My point is you are dragging in something totally irrelevant to derail the topic. Preachers say gays caused hurricanes? Well, how can we condemn them if Wright said nasty things? It's an attempt at false equivalence when my point is there is no equivalence at all.

I think those that believe would say the no matter what happens on earth, things are better in the afterlife.

Of course, if that's the case, then why would any God give us some many fun things to do, and then say you can't do them? Seems rather patronizing to me.
