If Hollins takes the fall in Memphis, does he become your top coaching hopeful?

I would like to have Lionel Hollins as coach. I think he'd do a good job.

I don't why he would. His team overachieved last year. This year they didn't take a step forward but I still can't see him taking a fall for the season. But yes, I'd def look closely at him if he was available.

Maybe. But he's done a credible job in Memphis and I don't see a lot of better people looking to coach right now. Maybe Lambier.

I'm not sure I'd go for Hollins; Memphis is as talented as the Blazers in 2008-09, maybe more so, but still couldn't get out of the first round. When this happened to the Blazers, we blamed Nate... so who should we blame when Memphis loses to the Clippers? A lack of superior talent? Or a lack of series adjustments?

How can a team with no center beat a team with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph?

McMillan was fired for much better reasons than that. No one calls Hollins a one-trick pony.

VCN won a game 7 on the road, would you want him?

If my choices were Nate, Lionel, and Vinnie, I'd take Vinnie. He's not good, but he's the least horrible of the three.

Luckily, we also have an entire range of high school coaches to choose from that blow the doors off those three.

But look who is choosing those candidates right now. That's the scary part

I disagree. I changed the price of tea in China during one of my Nate is an ass clown threads

Well then, if you have Paul's ear via your super-influential inside source, then tell him to hire a competent coach.

Miller/Mensah/Paul have been striking out most heinously with their GM search...

I expect the same with the coaching search. We'll end up hiring a second-rate candidate.

I will be more surprised if there is a change to be honest with you. I think the jobs will go to Chad and Kaleb because no real candidates will want it. I think some are interested in it though, but will stop after the interview process. Chad will keep Kaleb and I will kill myself. See there, it's a good news day for some of you

I'm not too terribly worried though; even a horrific owner like Donald Sterling can get out of the first round with no center and a second-rate coach.

It depends... are you one of PapaG's alt accounts?

Vinnie is a bad coach. Period. Also, I don't judge a coach necessarily over losing a game 7.

DeAndre Jordan has been horrible in the playoffs.

The second coming of Kelvin Cato @ $11m/per

11mil per for DeAndre boggles my mind. Seriously. I thought all the hubub last summer was to prevent that shit.

No, Lionel Hollins doesn't seem like much of a coach to me. Didn't understand his substitution patterns and I know it's a small sample size but on the "inside trax" thing he never really said anything to his team about strategy or anything of the sort.

I'm pretty suspect about Hollins. The Grizz overachieved last year and looked really good all around. I was watching as much of the Clips-Grizz series as I could I wasn't very impressed with them in the playoffs this year and I think Hollins mismanaged the game quite a bit.

I've been a fan of them since their run last year largely because of their personnel. I love Tony Allen and Marc Gasol. Z-Bo is endearing in his old age. Conley is fun to watch, and Gay can be very impressive. Last season they also had Battier and Darell Arthur. They played with great intensity and toughness, but was that Hollins' coaching or is it Chris Wallace putting together a pretty smart, talented, deep squad with some elite defensive role players? If not for the players completely blowing that 20 pt lead in game 1 they would likely be in the second round right now as well...

Hollins definitely had his guys playing hard for him and he had them focused and intense on defense. I don't know about his x's and o's, his ability to adjust, or his game management. The Grizz did do great with what they had last season. They should have beat the Clippers this season though, and I think if he made better adjustments it would have made the difference in the series. Although the players are to blame for the game 1 loss, and the Clips benched murdered the Grizz to start the 4th quarter in game 7 and I also blame that more on the players than the coach.

I don't think hes a long term answer, but he could be a good transitional coach if you want to get your team to have a defensive oriented, tough, balls out culture attached to it. Conley, Gasol, Gay and Arthur ended up developing well under him though so that is also a plus
