I think every Yankee fan and most players are finally at the point where they are sick of the AROD Traveling Salvation Show. If I was Hal, here is what I would do. I would suspend Alex Rodriguez for actions detrimental to the NYY Baseball Club. I would inform Arod's team that we are pursuing any and all legal remedies to void and recover the damage to our brand and the Yankees reputation that he has caused. I would then make 100 million (estimated remainder of contract without suspensions, fines, etc) available and put it in neutral legal trust fund account pending litigation and the outcome of the Appeal in progress or any other legal action necessary in the future. I would then file suit in Dade County Florida, legal action in the same jurisdiction as Biogenesis in attempt to discover more evidence and to leverage the FEDS to increase their investigation into Biogenesis, their employees, and any potential criminal charges that could be applied to anyone on either side of the Biogenesis comedy. I would tell the press than we will no longer take interviews or our players make comment during the law suit and any pending investigation. We want to talk baseball, apple pie and a car company...

I'm down with that suspension angle in theory but I would assume thats not allowed per the CBA. MLB could do it, but I don't think the Yankees could.

The union could side with Arod, but I believe that their own players would not go against any fair legal action to determine cause. Arod and or his team has made inflamatory statements about the Yankees, their doctors, etc. The legal system cuts both ways. For Arod, the best defense is a strong offense, thus his attorney's position of attacking. But with attacking in a lawsuit, depositions, and evidence can be used both ways. So best case scenario would be say, 1) the appeals knock it down to 100 games from the 204. that is about a 15 mil savings to the Yankees. 2) The Yankees legal action could either force a settlement or at least come to provide the vehicle of ridding themselves of this cancer called Arod. McCarver, who i can't stand, did make one good observation late in today's game. Arod can't have it both ways...

With Rodriguez's grievance proceeding still in the preliminary stages, the issues at play could be destined to multiply and become more complicated. As I explored a few weeks ago, in the context of examining possible legal action by a team against PED users, unauthorized medical treatment involving PEDs could conceivably form an independent basis for a team to pursue relief against a player. No, but making a mockery out of the Yankees, MLB, and baseball in general is. I have every ounce of faith that in the end, whenever that is, he will come up short just like his hitting in the clutch. How can anyone besides his mother root for this guy.

all im saying is there is a CBA in place and it prevents owners to suspend players and void contracts without due process. Granted the amount of perceived evidence appears to be overwhelming..but...until it the process has worked its way out, the player has his rights.

...neither has anyone said anything about the Yanx "voiding" ARod's contract. His contract would be voided by default if he is banned from the game and that is still a distinct possibility. Selig still has yet to play all of his cards and his provisional powers may still be used down the road.

by suspending him for conduct detrimental to the club, this would open up a pandora's box of other issues. There are measures agreed upon in the CBA. you can not look at this is one incident, there are steps and measures...and they are in the process of taking them. Otherwise...a owner can try the same actions if say Barry Zito farted in the wrong direction near a fan, well that is detrimental, lets void his absured contract. Why...well the Yankees got away with it when they suspended Arod.

Yes taking the example to the furthest point, but I hope you are getting my point.

..."Pandora's box"?...what other players are being hammered with the same level and same number of offenses as ARod? And if another team somehow ends up in the same situation as the Yanx, yes, they should be able recoup/curb the losses incurred by fraudulent and/or detrimental behavior. It's not like this is some sort of witch hunt without merit...every one of the suspended players are guilty and their utter capitulation confirms that fact.

In the end, Levine, whom I don't like, played his cards perfectly yesterday I feel. Like Lupica's article today, Hey Arod, if you are innocent, your legal team would be filing motions in every court between Miami and New York. Levine challenge to Arod to make his medical records available is called discovery, which is the last thing Arod wants coming out. People here keep quoting the CBA, however, the morals clause for major league baseball allows for clubs and baseball to govern themselves differently, yes the union is involved, but they can't protect a player from criminal or fraudulent activity. You didn't see the union come running to the defense of Pete Rose did you. In the end, like in a bad crime movie, Arod's attorneys can't put him on the stand. Ask me why...

...been saying all along that ARod's legal team will bleed him dry. It is in their best interest to tell ARod "Hey, let's fight this, we can beat it"...then when ARod loses his appeal, they bill the hell out of him. Then tell him "Hey, let's file a law suit, we can win"...and when that also fails, bill him for legal fees once again.


...bleed him dry...before it's done, I want ARod "living in a van down by the river".
