...there will be a few misguided people who will predictably claim the Yanx over spent, regardless of the terms of the deal?

...and if the Yanx don't land Tanaka, what are the odds that the very same people will bash Cashman for letting him get away, regardless of the terms of the deal?

What was that line from Tuskegee Airmen," If you don't believe in God you better have a damn good substitute." If the Yankees get him fine, but while in pursuit I hope they are considering alternatives.

I was thinking of buying a blue vette, I wonder why that came to mind when I read this...

...since you also like to quote song lyrics, I'm surprised you didn't quote Blood Sweat and Tears ("And When I Die")(David Clayton Thomas)(great voice)

" I can swear there ain't no heaven ........but I pray there ain't no hell."

Well played MB! But on the flip side, there will be those who predictably will celebrate his signing, but immediately pivot to the "no great loss", "never wanted him anyway" mantra if he decided to go to LA instead.

I did not care for BS&T but I did like that track. I just thought that Tuskegee Airman quote was really far out.

You know there will be many people saying they overspent on Tanaka if the get him. That being said the Yankees need to sign him no matter what the cost is to get him.

...I remember seeing BS&T on Johnny Carson back in the early 70's and like I said, i always thought David Clayton Thomas had a great voice...but he's one of those guys whose appearance just doesn't seem to match the voice...kinda like Christopher Cross.

and that's the bottom line. there is no way after overspending on Ellisbury that they can be outbidded by anyone. If he takes less $$ to play somewhere else I wont find fault with management. But the yanks better not be outbid by anyone for his services.

Never understood the concern on money/contracts as a Yanx fan. Sure if you follow another team that would likely impact roster moves, but not in the Bronx. It's all play money to the Steinbrenner's anyway.

If you want the guy, go buy him. Just be sure to buy the right pieces to put together a championship team.

One particular line from that great song has always kind of gotten my attention (lol) :

"Just bundle up my coffin cause it's....cold way down there"

...yeah, if you heard Gibson speak without seeing him, you'd never guess it was him.
