I would see if Denver would bite on Aldridge and Camby. That would be my starting offer. It might take more to pry him away, but it would be interesting to see how scared Denver is of losing Anthony next summer. It would give them some much needed depth in the front court in case Nene or KMart goes down.

My next move would be trying to convince David Lee to do a sign and trade with NY. This probably wouldn't happen until after LeBron, Wade, and Bosh sign elsewhere, crushing NY's hope of putting together a team of stars next year.

I would offer up Rudy, Batum, and Joel. I would think that would be enough young talent to convince NY to do the trade, and then Joel expires so they would still have significant cap space next year.

We have a roster that looks like this:

Miller/Williams
Roy/Bayless
Melo/Babbitt/Cunningham
Lee/Pendergraph
Oden/??

Our frontcourt is weak, especially if Oden isn't healthy next year, but we survived without a center for most of last season. I think we could figure out some alternatives. Maybe bring over Freeland. I think we could fill it out. I think an offensive unit that features Roy, Melo, and Lee is pretty freaking hard to defend.

I don't see it happening. How often are major trades made in-division like this? If anything I think Denver will hold on to him as long as possible unless he demands a trade or it looks like he won't sign an extension in the next year.

Something is going to have to happen (I guess?) but I think they'll still target the point guard spot.

I have been telling my friends that the Blazers should trade for Melo as well. If they can't sign him, and he's open to it, then it's a no brainer. The only question would be trading within the division.

I think Denver would bite on Aldridge, Rudy and Bayless, but maybe not.

We think the same when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I would then take Batum, Joel and Miller and send them to a team in cap hell for a PF nnd PG...West and Collison?

If Melo was willing to sign an extension, then why would he leave Denver? It's not like Portland has proved itself to be a championship contender, nor do we even know if Melo is all about winning.

Where would Melo sign next summer that IS a proven championship contender? I think we have a better window than Denver, and maybe I'm just an arrogant prick, but I think Portland is a better city than Denver as well.

Players can sign an extension as part of a trade; I would make sure we get that done before shipping out quality talent for Melo.

Carmelo's team got worked consistently by teams with size and length. Without Nene Carmelo is out in the first round. Birdman made a big difference too as did K-mart. Anthony is a scorer dime a dozen. Elite scorer to be sure, but without a healthy Oden we never make it past the WCF and likely without a front line we never make it out of the 2nd round.
