If we lose in the first round, does LA leave?

If the Spurs and Pop come knocking after a deep run by SAS and an early exit by Portland? I would not be surprised to see him leave. I would hate to see it happen, but it is possible.

I agree and if it happened Kevin Love to Portland rumors would be flying .

Call me a skeptic but I doubt Portland is in Kevin Love's top 5 destinations. I take him at his word that Portland would be nice place to close out his career.

With that said, I think LA if he decides to leave would be cooperative with the idea of working out a sign and trade.

I simply don't think his decision will be made based on this year's playoffs. I think it will be made based on money, legacy, and his perception of his chances in NEXT year's playoffs, on the various teams that submit offers to him. Because of the way things change, and our injury situation, I think this year's playoffs will have little to do with that analysis.

Well we might have 3 teams to choose from if he does decide to bolt, agree to a sign & trade deal. Houston, San Antonio and Dallas.

We should set up a fake moving company on Craigslist. Wait for him to contact us to move his stuff to the new city of the team he signs with and we hold his stuff hostage until he agrees to come back to Portland.

I think you can take a signed LA by himself and trade him for a player or group of players. Maybe one those teams has something on there we want. Maybe they don't. For the record, I don't think you can take a resigned LA and trade him for a resigned Kevin Love.

If the Blazers lose the first round, I don't think it will be LA leaving, more like Stotts.

I think he has a good therapist who can sooth his deep need for comparison to Hardin or Westbrook. She will convince him that Portland is the team and platform to erase those doubts. He could begin life anew. Or... We win first round second and the championship due to his efforts where he could get Laker money. So if we succeed more than that possibility could open.

Although I don't believe LMA will be making decisions about where to play based on taxes, I do think that he does in fact pay more taxes playing here than if he played in Texas.

barfo
+> Yeah..... That concept can be relevent and there are three to choose from especially the Spurs with an aging TD. They could bribe him with barbeque, the Ewing ranch tour and Houston Texans premium seats plus a F-150 with rear window gun rack for free.

Didn't Stotts just get an extension? Or am I thinking of Olshey?

The Blazers gave him a three year deal last spring after the playoffs, so he has 2 years remaining, but the 3rd year is a team option.

Olshey got a new contract extension recently.

So we'd only eat one contract year if we fired Stotts this summer? That seems pretty routine.

No but there will be changes if that happens. What they will be? Who knows.
Agreed, the core may have to change. At present I do not think this core can reach the finals. 2 pieces away. One of those 2 pieces must replace one of the core starters. Who or what those pieces are? I have no clue.

Another thing we are forgetting is the smothering all in compassing love of Blazer fans. Where will LaMarcus be able to know so much carefree, uninhibited people of the hearth. Surely not in Texas!

He's too close to breaking almost every record this team has. Ego and the extra money will keep him here.

I whole-heartedly disagree. When Wes returns next year, we'll have the opportunity to have an outstanding 9-man rotation. Our starting five is absolutely title caliber, and CJ/Afflalo/Wright/Kaman would be a very strong bench. The only piece we're missing right now is health.

Careful with those two, if they struggle next year to start... people will go back to saying they suck.
They'll forget most role playing vets play themselves into shape.

:)

Apparently Kaman is the 6th best center in the league, ahead of Boogie.

He's not going anywhere. He'd have to take a paycut to leave and his legacy won't be the same. That's something that's important to him. He's mentioned Duncan/staying with one team numerous times.

As for wes, his game was never above the rim and he's still relatively young so I don't see any issues there either. The guy barely jumps when he shoots and I don't remember the last time he dunked lol. Not saying it's not a serious injury because it is but wes will bounce back.

I want Wes back. Time away makes the heart grow fonder, or some shit.

For the record, I want LA, too. I just pretty much know he's gonna stay, but just for the semantic police, I will include this.
