If Wes is out for an extended time who should we fill our roster out with?

No, there's a disabled player exception. From the NBA Salary Cap FAQ:

Obviously, the ship has sailed on the trade option, but Olshey could sign a FA for up to half of Wes' salary.
Sure, but that's a salary exception, not a roster exception. That exception would allow us to pay more than the vet minimum to fill our 15th spot, but it would not permit us to sign a second player in addition to the roster spot we already have.

Are there any FA's out there for whom this would be an issue? I imagine that anyone who actually wants to play would sign for whatever we'd offer.

Yeah, that's true. I thought it was understood that we'd have to use the last roster spot. Other than Ray Allen, who apparently said no, I can't think of another 2G that we'd want to waste the money on.

It's a shame Elliot Williams was just snatched up by the Pelicans.
Would like to have seen him given another shot with the Blazers.

His was the first name to come to mind for me, too.

Stupid Pelicans...

No, that was the basis of yuyuza's question that RR7 replied to. He was asking if we would be eligible for a disability hardship which would permit us to bring in two different players if we were so inclined. Which we're not.

Somebody healthy who isn't a complete jerk or have a drug problem.

I stil;l think we have to bring in an insurance guy. Going into the playoffs with 13 healthy players is not a great idea. But you go get a vet. Nate Robinson is the perfect kind of fit as he can play the 1 or 2. In fact he was more effective than Blake is.

The Clippers just signed Nate Robinson to a 10-day contract. So, he's off the table - for now.

BNM

Nate Robinson was not a difference maker for the Blazers. There's a reason he can't stick anywhere. My choice would have been Elliot Williams but that's not an option. I trust Olshey to do the right thing and if that's standing pat, there's probably good reason. Allen Crabbe had a terrific 7 game stretch this season on both sides of the court. He can play and has length that CJ lacks. Gee is a good defender. The Spurs keep finding these guys in the D league and that's where I'd look to finish off the season without breaking the bank. Fortunately we have enough regular games left to get AAA into the flow of the team. We'll be fine. It's not the roster that worries me, it's the fans.

We have time to audition CJ before making a decision.

I don't want Nate at all but I did want E Will before he got picked up.

We need guys who can get their own shot without being setup. Knowing this, Crabbe is eliminated since he is more of a set-up guy. CJ can definitely get his own shot. Another guy I'd give a look at is Seth Curry who is ripping it up in the D-League.

E Will is only on a 10 day contract... can we sign him to a 10 day or is there provisions to that?

Seth Curry would be nice.

YES! Listen to this man!

Nate Robinson was sensational in the 2013 playoffs and a difference maker in the 2010 Finals, riverman.

The defense is the problem but he personally won 2 games in the 2013 playoffs. That's more than Taurean Green can say.

I love Nate. Aaron Brooks has been playing some God awful basketball as a starter. Abysmal shooting percentages. We should have signed Nate, Moore has been good but he's an SG so...eh.

He has declined now though. He isn't Nate "2013" Robinson.

Kaponen, Monia, I'm sure they would tear up the D-League also. To bad we can't get one of them back.

And no, you're not sure. I AM, however, sure that E will and Seth curry have.

You're not very good at this.

I always thought that McMillan didn't give Dan Dickau a fair shake.

EDIT: I just looked it up...He's available! Great shooter, guard.

I'm pretty sure you could beat him off the dribble.

At this point Steph Curry's brother sounds pretty good.
I've been championing Seth for a while now.

His stats in the D League have been nothing short of amazing:

24 pts, 4 rebs, 4 asts, 48% FG, 48% from 3 in 37 mpg through 36 games this year.

Give the guy a chance, Neil. He has to be better than Blake.

Or perhaps Chris Babb would be a better fit. It says here that:

"Unselfish player who’s shown he will buy into team concept. One of league’s top perimeter defenders, could potentially guard two positions at next level."

It seems to me that our biggest need with Wes out is a top flight perimeter defender.
