What what? He actually died? I think I missed that. I just read that he was kicked off the show for multiple harassment and misconduct allegations and was hastily wrote off the show.

Also next season will be the last. That is a bummer, with the ring and new worlds they could have this series go on forever with unlimited spin offs

The first few episodes are a little slow because there are multiple plot lines that are being laid out. But go with it, it's some great story telling.
