Never done it before, but I think it is finally time. When I do, I'm sure I won't see there posts, but will I see there amazingly deep and thought out threads they create? Enough is enough. If you can believe it, I was actually threatened to be banned from this place because I called him *edited* the other day. If any of you out there have or are using this function and can tell me what to expect, that would be cool. Or maybe you all have me on ignore!

You'll still see the threads created by the Ignored user and all responses to him/her.

If you use Firefox, you can use this extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7023

Which will remove even the threads created by the user. I don't use it personally, but it seems like it might help you.

some people dwell on heated responses to their drivel. just ignore them using your brain, who needs a fancy internet forum function?

if nobody posted responses to some of this shit, they might get bored and go away.

or do like i do sometimes and just post a random picture or observation.

Personally, I question whether MIXUM satisfies the first forum rule:

1. All posters with honorable intentions are welcome.

Given that my opinion on this matter is strictly my personal opinion (although I suspect many others agree), I have decided for the first time in more than 10 years of participating in message boards such as this to make use of the Ignore function.

I have used it twice here...once for someone that was obviously 12 years old and just being stupid, and the poster in question here.

"THE" I suggest you try it. You can still see where he posts, but it says message ignored. If it looks like a post you might be interested in you can easily unhide that individual post without un-ignoring. The problem is that he continuously posts new irritating threads, so you will still see those titles...

The mods here aren't very good so it doesn't matter anyways.

Can someone tell me what "THE" said? I have him on ignore. :devilwink:

I broke down and finally used 'ignore' a while back. The poster in question (not the Mr. Sunshine alluded to here) has since been banned. I think. :dunno: Either way, he's out of my life.

Usually though, if I want to ignore someone, I just ignore them. When it's time to use the ignore feature though, you'll know it, son. It sounds like it's time. Give it a try.

It is amazing to me that members here take an anonymous forum personally in any way. Even more amazing, is that a member doesn't have enough self control to ignore things found offensive without use of a software function or reacting directly. Offensive behaviour is a natural human thing. You have many options to deal with offensive people in "real life", same it true in an anonymous forum.

I have barfo on ignore. Not the body of his posts, just the part where he puts "barfo" that doesn't show up on my screen.

While I may be on several ignore lists, I personally seldom have a problem with whatever people want to post.

However, I did put a certain poster on ignore after confirming a constant pattern he had of simply baiting and attacking each and every post I made with name-calling, empty assertions, and contributing nothing of value to the thread.

I've left him on ignore all season and the board is a lot more fun without him. I aumess he still attacks and baits me as he posts immediately after my posts most of the time, but not seeing his comments I don't know for sure.

Maybe he's just begging me to listen to him again.

its the internet, breathe deeply and move on......

If KP really does come here, I'm betting he has him on ignore too.

I don't think Pritchard has me on Ignore. He's watching me like a hawk. All he has to do is what he did on the ESPN board--have his screen name complain about me and delete posts until I give up on posting about him anymore.

Yeah that's right, I know it was you, Pritchard!! You thought I didn't know!! Well I did!!

Wouldn't it be better to be able set your user cp to show only posters that you have on your list of 'favorites', if you will. Then when you go into a thread you only see posts/replies of the 'favorites' you've chosen.

I don't know diddly about how these boards work, but would that be possible? Would doing that have a downside to the site's business? I'm sure Denny has grown accustomed to living the lifestyle of a website owner, and I wouldn't want that to be jeopardized.

To be honest, the best I think we can do is try not to play favorites (or the opposite) among posters. It's hard to fathom how a poster must be universally disliked when his threads get some number of responses. It really seems easy enough to not open a thread started by a poster you don't want to read.

Me thinks they doth protest too much.

I would like to know how I can put the mods on ignore.

But only when they're acting in their "official" caapacity.

If you did that, you'd never come to know any new favorites.
