With a mild groin sprain. If that’s a mild groin sprain Igor may be one of the greatest actors of all time. I thought he was done for the season the way he went down, laid there and carried off. Great news though but I’d still be surprised if he’s not out at least a week!

Durability could certainly be a concern with him. Even aside from the car accident this is the third injury we're dealing with.

Igor gets run a lot. I've noticed a ton more contact on him then we ever saw with Henrik. Could have been guys just respecting Hank more, could be that Igor plays farther out of his net so he's more exposed. But Im not sure I'd call him "soft". Contact doesnt seem to phase him. Physically or mentally, as that game last night showed he is not mentally soft either. He let in a total fluke goal to go down early, then had one of the best games of his career. Soft goalies would not have that bounceback. But injury prone - this could certainly be concerning going forward.

I can see why people might roll their eyes seeing this was just a groin strain after that reaction, but those are no joke in the moment. And having that happen right after you do a full split - that can't be fun.

Absolutely. He really could have used a full, regular training camp with the big club to work on strength and flexibility. We all remember when Buch first came over and his back pretty much collapsed a few weeks in. They train differently over there. Hopefully it's something he can focus on in a regular offseason, because 3 injuries in 30ish games is not going to cut it.

He seems to get hurt often. We'll see if he turns out to be injury prone long term, but in his short time here 3 or 4 injuries, and went down like he got shot last night. Only time will tell if it's a legit concern or not.

For the first time, I agree with Chuck. Hank used to get run over and I don't think I have ever seen him act this way. I miss Lundqvist.

Yeah, not sure I remember things the same was as you Prod. Hank used to get run pretty frequently...mainly because the Rangers didn't have defensemen that would punish players for trying to stand in front/bumping/outright blasting into Hank. Also, rarely would penalties be called or goals disallowed because of the contact.

I didn’t say Hank never got run. Of course he did, and every time someone touched him we would all explode because he was our whole team. It would also be a lot more obvious because he would be deep in his net, and there was always some sort of intent behind it.

Igor takes contact more often because he plays so much farther out. You see it every game if you look for it. The contact itself hasn’t really led to injury- he’s had two ankle injuries and now a groin injury. It’s not like teams are knocking him out of the game or he’s being soft and shying away from contact. But if this continues and he is as injury prone as he appears right now, it could be a problem.

I saw Shesterkin do full splits more than once in the Devils game. The problem is the shitheads on defense were allowing glorious scoring chances for 2 periods and he had to make acrobatic save after save to bail the dumbasses out. Quinn has had no defensive system from the first day he took over as the head coach. People like Chuck do everything never to hold whoever is coaching our team accountable. Shesterkin is pretty much the reason we are in games. Quinn for the first time in his coaching career wasn't a pussy and finally benched a top vet. Only took him over 2 seasons.

Lundqvist while have shit offense in front of him his entire career pretty much always had a top defensive team in front of him. At the end when AV started to ruin it, Lundqvist looked bad. What you are seeing now with Shesterkin is what you saw with Richter when his defenses sucked. He had to do crazy moves, splits and shit to make saves because of the dumb fucks in front of him. Hank had to save the Rangers asses simply more because they never scored for him. Not because they let up tons of glorious chances. Anybody criticizing Shesterkin is a stupid fuck not worthy of him on the team they follow.

Using Lundqvist as a comparison is beyond stupid. By his third season Hank had Girardi and Staal. Those guys were beasts shutting down first lines. His rookie season Hank had a save % over .920. then the next 3 years he didn't. He didn't get back to a .920+ save percentage until Torts showed up and put in a defensive system. Shesterkin had a .932 save % his rookie debut. He's .921 now. That's with half his defense being cluster fucks and good 3 being kids who don't even have 2 full years of NHL experience. So I think criticizing Shesterkin is pretty moronic.
