Iguodala (again)

G. Wall ain't going anywhere. He has propelled himself to one of the most "likeable" players on the Blazers.

Likable is nice.

Getting out of the goddamned first round is more nice.

That said, Wallace has a much better track record of stepping up his game for the playoffs than Iguodala does. Still, I think the deal makes some sense.....

Well, Wallace was pretty damn consistant on the Blazers during the regular season. Also, if you are comparing post season to post season, Igs played like shit this play-offs too. Hell his fans boo'd his ass.

I don't get this quote. The Jazz made it past the first round with Matthews as their starting SG.

The Jazz also had Deron Williams playing next to him.

The Blazers need him to play a bigger role than the Jazz asked of him - and the results were very inconsistent.

Matthews averaged more minutes per game during the playoffs for the Jazz than for the Blazers.

What about Batum 8ppg in the last two years playoffs? Last year he had Steve Nash guarding him and this year he shot 20% from threes. Keep Crash but I'm fine with giving up Batum.

A decision needs to be made about Greg Oden first. If you don't lock him up or bring him back - there's no sense going for win-now, cause you won't. Second, a decision needs to be made between GWallace and Batum. I think the Blazers are leaning towards GW on this one. More proven player and only big slasher on team. So, Batum becomes trade bait.

I think (hope) the Blazers aim higher than Iggy. We need a better PG. If we bring in a SG as replacement - then we again have duplicity at SG with Wes.

Funnily enough, Iguodala shot almost exactly the same % from three as Wallace did (as a Blazer) - .337 to .338.

Maybe they'll get rid of the 3 point line in the new CBA?

They've just released the all-Defensive teams, and Iggy is on the second team. I must say, those teams are always a joke - they've always got the most famous players on the first team - in this case Howard, James, Bryant (hah! Maybe a few years ago he would've deserved it) and Chris Paul (he gets steals, but he also gets abused because of his height) plus Rondo, who actually deserves it.

Mook - I think you're underestimating the difference between Brand and Camby. It just seemed to me late in the season that Camby was pretty much done. He was more and more lead-footed, and he actually averaged 6 points per 48 in the playoffs (down from 8 1/2 in the regular season). Brand, on the other hand, led the Sixers in scoring in the regular season and playoffs. Camby's rebounding would be missed, but it was like having Przybilla on O again. Brand is 32 (born March '79), but Camby is almost exactly five years older.

This would be strictly a salary-dumping exercise for Philly (at least, as far as Brand is concerned). Camby would probably retire.

Yeah, you are right on that one. Solid post.

SUNNERGREN: So Andre, let’s cut to the chase. We’ve all heard the rumors, let’s hear it from you. Do you want to stay in Philadelphia?

IGUODALA: That’s a very good question Tom. A very good one. Do I want to stay in Philadelphia? I mean, why wouldn’t I want to stay in Philadelphia? Who wouldn’t want to play for a fan base that appreciates and understands their game the way Philadelphia understands mine? I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to be arguably the premier wing defender in the NBA, an outstanding rebounder, a terrific passer, a guy with a good handle who can take it to the rim, but be nevertheless picked apart and absolutely lambasted because I can’t hit f***ing jump shots. I excel in literally every other aspect of the game. Literally every single other thing you can do in the game of basketball to make your team more likely to win the game, I do the s*** out of. I stuff box scores like they’re f***ing Christmas stockings. So I can’t hit 18 footers. Look at my numbers. Look at my f***ing numbers. If I hit jumpers I’d be f***ing LeBron James. ‘Oh god, he’s worse than LeBron James. We oughtta punch him in the face. Break his teeth cause he’s worse than LeBron. That’s our standard, if you’re worse than LeBron — the best basketball player on the planet earth — we murder you. That’s a completely fair and reasonable way to evaluate players.’ So yeah. I’d love to stay in Philadelphia. The fans here are very intelligent. They’re really reasonable. I’d love to continue to play for them.

It's fake by the way, but still hilarious.

If Kamen is the price for Iggy, the Blazers should really look to get into negotiations. A Camby + Rudy package works and clears minutes for Iggy.

I would love to do a Camby + scrub filler for Iggy even if he doesn't really fit our current roster. Regardless of positional clutter, what our team lacks most is talent. That would be an obvious move.

Boy, it sure would be nice to have a GM right now..... oh well.

I would instantly become excited about the team again. Right now, I hope for the best, but I can't say I'm excited about it's future. Oden playing NBA games would re-excite me most.

Jaynes said it's for a younger player who can score/distribute -- Doesn't this sound a lot like what Iggy does?

Man i'd love to see Iguodala and Crash on the Blazers. They were my two favorite non Blazers.

Let's offer Rudy. Rudy is an impact veteran... he got impacted in the back once by a veteran.

Sure Philly says it wants an impact veteran, but if they're really entertaining the idea of Kaman (who was just AWFUL last year, when he wasn't injured) then they don't really mean it.
How about this:
Dre + Camby for Iggy + Nocioni (who is a contract I'm sure the Sixers would LOVE to dump - 3 years at nearly $7M)

Then they can decide whether they want to keep Andre or not pick up his option and dump his salary. We could sweeten the deal with $3M of PAM and future picks.

I'd do it, but I wouldn't be happy. The team would have no real point guard and we already know Miller and Iguodala play well together.

Still, Iguodala is a longer-term talent upgrade, so if that was the only way to get the deal done, I'd do it.

I'd love to get Iggy for either Camby or Miller plus either Batum or Wesley. If I had the choice I'd rather keep Miller but I suspect Miller would also be more attractive for the sixers. They could immediately release his contract.

We would need a PG but heck the Mavs won an NBA finals with Barea or Stevenson starting every game of the playoffs. If you can get great talent at 3 or 4 postions then a journeymen backup would be quite acceptable as a starter.

Also, if we added Iggy we would need a better shooting PG anyways, you can't have Iggy/Crash at the 2/3 along with a non-shooting PG.

Get er done!
