Sure, not all parents care. I don't remember any kids caring until 7th-8th grade what people were wearing.

One of my friends was the son of a pastor who didn't care. He still made it work by going to ross and getting stuff. He also mowed lawns and stuff in order to buy more clothes.

It is an interesting conundrum, but i don't believe uniforms are the answer.

Interestingly, a lot of places are letting students pick their uniform style regardless of gender (including places like Tokyo, where that shit has been hyper-gendered). Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

Let me just say this. My gf at the time was also in the band. And she was an in shape cheerleader, on the tennis and volleyball team.
If those uniforms didn't make all asses flat as fuck and almost indistinguishable between the sexes, i would have likely hit many more wrong notes while marching along!

lol! Yeah marching band uniforms were universally awful. I was in marching band (Sunset 93-95) and honestly the uniforms being so genderless helped me out a ton as someone closeted... it was the one place I felt like I wasn't a weirdo (for being trans... everyone in marching band was a weirdo for being in marching band!)

Its typically tied to puberty i would think. That is when we become much more self conscience. I was a late bloomer so i didn't gaf until highschool. :)

Marching? Oh definitely. The first U of O Festival of Bands competition I ever participated in (October 1992) was *pouring* down rain on the field during finals. There were some sloppy-ass exhibitions at the SAMBA Classic, too, because our football field was natural grass back then. Rose Festival parade was always hit or miss for rain, which wasn't much fun for such a long route.

It wasn't the weight of the uniform that got to me, it was the smell, my god the smell. Wool and rain aren't a good combo.

Soon the Supreme Court will pass laws banning any babies from exposure to boobs. The Bottle fed formula babies will have their day in court damnit!!!!!! We can joke, but fact is, ABM has such hostility towards my community he will use anything to slander us. Discredited sources, factually untrue stories, scandals that aren't even about LGBTQ people at all. And he's not the only one.
Now that they have guaranteed sluts will die, the right needs a new target.

There are a ton of kids in foster care. Why don't you adopt and give a kid a good life instead of trying to control things that they can and can't see?

If you care that much, that's a tremendous way to help.

You sound like one of those parents that would refuse to let a 14 year old watch a PG-13 movie because it might corrupt them. Which makes it worse because then they will just lie to you and watch that stuff in a sneaky manner.
 
Chairman Mao used the "protect the children" propoganda to enlist a child army named the Red Guard that would turn in or arrest all the parents and teachers and send them to forced labor camps in turn giving the children guns and power as long as they only believed in his little red book....set China back decades and destroyed thousands of years of writings and research in the name of facism.....yeah.....children's rights eh? That's one way to dumb down your society. Same thing happens in banana republics in Africa and Central America. The GOP really wants us to follow suit and have leaders like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Donald Trump insulting the intellectuals and educators in favor of sensationalized bluster. This whole movement needs to be purged from our government now.

We would've had we been a married a little earlier in life. Doesn't stop me from spending lots of time with my great niece(9) and nephew(5) - the ones in Tennesse), as well as advocating for others.

It is never too late to help. You could become a foster home to them if you don't want to fully adopt.

We had a garage sale last weekend and the kids helped. It was a fun experience. My 9-year-old actually sold $50 of her own stuff. Watching her negotiate was pretty funny. She's such a little capitalist! LOL
