It's not about fear in any manner. It's about what do we want our children exposed to - or not.

There are logical reasons kids aren't allowed in strip clubs.
Was there nudity? I thought the idea of these shows was lots of colorful clothes?

I doubt there was nudity. Yes, that's what's it about, looking fabulous, about expression as far as I know. Nothing sexual. I guess it makes certain people uncomfortable to see dudes in colorful clothing with makeup.

They will probably make it illegal to be a drag queen soon.

For the party that is supposed to be about individual rights/liberty, they sure love taking away said rights and liberty from certain people.

When Republican governors like DeathSantis and Abbott were banning any books that might make white people uncomfortable, ABM was all about this was correct because parents should control what their children are exposed to. Even when the "children" were 17 and 18 year old high school seniors.

When parents bring their children to a drag performance, he's demanding investigate them!

It's really about don't let anyone be exposed to what he doesn't like.

Oddly enough, the tweet seems to be misstating what the lawsuit is about. From what I can tell, they don't want the USDA to be able to deny federal funding to schools it finds to be discriminating against LGBTQ students according to Title IX regulations. It seems the AGs are actually fighting for lunch funding, not to deny it.

Funding for school lunches in jeopardy as GOP officials sue over anti-discrimination rule (yahoo.com)

Obviously, they could just replace the federal funding with state funding, if what they really wanted was to get the (straight) kids fed.

Sure they could, but if they can get the federal government to pay for it, and believe they're entitled to it by statute, it makes sense for them to try to protect those funds.

As I've said before, the Republicans do plenty of things that are worthy of scorn and ridicule; there's no reason for people (like Gillian Branstetter) to invent offenses that don't exist.

I think this is one that is worthy of scorn and ridicule, they are hoping to discriminate against certain kids, and get federal funding in spite of that.

And with that I don't disagree. Just saying there's no need for someone to make up a claim that they're trying to deny anyone lunch.

"We have laws against child endangerment," DeSantis said during a news conference in Fort Meyers Beach last week, after a video of children attending a drag bar in Dallas surfaced. "They were putting money in the underwear, and that is totally inappropriate," he said. "That is not something that children should be exposed to."

So what happened to parents decide?
And exactly how were the children endangered?

If you decided to take your kids to an adults-only establishment, and they didn't let your kids in, would you complain? Would it do any good?

were these kids at an adult only establishment, or are you taking one situation and attaching it to an unrelated hypothetical?

I'm talking about DeSantis & Co. pushing back on this stuff.
On what stuff exactly? And why are they getting involved in the way parents raise their children? You seem to be jumping both sides of the line on what parents should have a say in, no? You want sex ed taught at home, maybe this is a portion of that, and now all of a sudden you want government interference? Bit hypocritical, eh?

Seems like a fairly simple fix using existing laws.

I am opposed to more laws if current laws could solve the issue.

I'll ask you this same question. If you were with your kids and were turned away from an adults-only establishmentent would you be upset? Would that be wrong?

There are reasons kids aren't allowed in certain establishments. And this transcends trans situations, and anything else.

What is this in relation to?

Is there a similar push from Desantis at places like Hooters, or are cis gender people in provocative clothing ok for children to see? Is it just eww, creepy cross dressers?

This is the quote that caught my eye. If it's true, I see it as problematic.

Those who live in the greater Howdy Arabia region of the USA are just grossed out by sex. Unless it involves cousins...step siblings....grannys....furries....cheerleaders....and in that case, it's what they do in the privacy of their homes god damnit!

"If it's true"
Doesn't matter if it is, it's already got you and your ilk in an uproar over nonsense.

Well, the quote was pulled from an NPR article, so, yeah, it's suspect.

The quote is from DeSantis. It doesn't matter which news organization said it.

Call him a liar, then. Doesn't really matter to me.
