It seems weird to me a certain political platform is focusing on a “trans issues” when like less than 5% of Americans even know someone in their life that is transgender.

even here in the Portland suburbs, I’ve only met a handful. Let them be and focus on real issues. The Transgender population is not harming anyone

I made a statement that I'm a Christian, because, as far as I can tell, most of the board in here is not. I have strong convictions regarding abortion. That's a well-known fact in here. At least it should be. In terms of gays, I've clearly stated that I don't believe in gay marriage. The Bible is clear on that fact. In terms of any other gay rights, etc., I have no issues. In terms of our schools teaching sex education in our schools to our young kids, I don't care what the topic - hetero, gay, whatecer - I'm against it. In terms of trans topics, I'm all over this thread. Knock yourself out reading any of those comments, questions, concerns, or otherwise.

The bible says nothing about transgender people. Not that it matters when discussing civil law, which in this country is supposedly based on the Constitution, not the prejudice of four men and a handmaiden.

It's one thing to have a belief system that's stubbornly antiquated but quite another to force it onto your neighbors or family or friends....choices...you make yours....I make mine but the laws need to clearly state that my beliefs are as valid as yours and deserve equal protection....anything else is just self centered bullshit and selfish projection and the desire to dominate the political landscape. To the point of actually voting for someone who's a classist, racist, bigoted incompetent, dishonest and downright evil person. I have no problem with any religion that doesn't preach harm to others or strip away equality and civil rights of others. Unfortunately the right wing Jesus, guns and babies crowd is intolerant.....to the point that it's made me intolerant of their general culture...it's a .shame... I never used to view the world this way. A large segment of the GOP today is wanting a dictator who pretends he's Jesus and tells them how to live....it's no wonder Jim Jones could talk so many of these folks into drinking purple kool aid. George Carlin said it the best....if God tells you to follow these 10 rules or you'll be tortured in burning hell for all eternity....or if you're simply not baptized and are still born....no salvation you burn in hell but don't forget....he loves you all!
