This maggot helped to kill my college roommate and the Scots are letting him go free based on "compassionate grounds". How much compassion did this walking piece of excrement have for the people he killed?

He deserved to rot without treatment in the worst prison in the UK until he died. This ruling is a slap in the face to all those family members who have suffered since that day in December, 1988.

Why would he reject transferring him to a prison in Libya?

I mean, I agree with you, he should rot and die in their jail, but if it's between going absolutely free, or staying and dying in jail in Libya, I'd prefer he at least stay in prison. Fuck him. Compassion my ass.

that's wack. i guess the scotts are trying to show how fucking humanisitic they are? when people do acts like this, they are no longer human and they do not deserve to have compassion no matter how much they reform.

In defending his decision, MacAskill said that the former agent "did not show his victims any comfort or compassion. They were not allowed to return to the bosom of their families to see out their lives, let alone their dying days. No compassion was shown by him to them. But that alone is not a reason for us to deny compassion to him and his family in his final days."

What a bunch of fucking pussies.

Frank Duggan, president of the Victims of Pan Am 103 Inc., said that he was worried now that Megrahi would get "a hero's welcome in Libya. That would be incredibly hurtful for American families."

btw. but did they give you straight A's? (urban legend if your roomate dies)

It happened between Fall Semester and January term, just before Christmas. I was in Madrid that Fall (Scott was in London). I went from Madrid to Australia and New Zealand for six weeks. These were the days before e-mail and when calling internationally as a college student was just too expensive. I knew about Lockerbie, but it never occurred to me anyone I knew was on the plane, all they talked about were the Syracuse students.

I got back to school, moved my stuff in our apartment and noted Scott hadn't yet arrived. I checked my mail at the campus center and there was a note to see the President. That's when they told me he had been killed.

So no, I wasn't offered straight A's, although that was a good semester for me academically. To keep from thinking about The Hitman (his nickname), I buried myself in my studies.

I hope the Scots have the Libyans come pick him up in a plane, and we pack some semtex in the cargo hold disguised as a radio. Now THAT would be justice.

TRIPOLI, Libya - The only man convicted in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing has returned home to Libya to die after Scotland released him from prison Thursday.

The decision outraged relatives of the 270 people killed when the jetliner blew up over a Scottish town.

President Barack Obama said the decision to free terminally ill Abdel Baset al-Megrahi on compassionate grounds was a mistake and warned Libya not to give him a hero's welcome.

But thousands were on hand to greet him warmly when his plane from Scotland touched down at a military airport in Tripoli.

There was a festive atmosphere with some wearing t-shirts with al-Megrahi's picture. Others waved Libyan and Scottish flags while Libyan songs blared.

Many here see al-Megrahi as an innocent scapegoat of the West.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton issued a statement saying she is "deeply disappointed" by the Scottish authorities' decision. She noted that the Dec. 21, 1988 bombing over Lockerbie killed 270 people, including 189 Americans. Al-Megrahi had served eight years of a life sentence in Scotland.

"We have continued to communicate our long-standing position to U.K. government officials and Scottish authorities that al-Megrahi should serve out the entirety of his sentence in Scotland," Clinton said.

Crowley told reporters that the administration will closely watch how al-Megrahi is received in Libya and that his reception may affect U.S.-Libyan relations.

Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, D-N.J., issued a statement calling the Libyan's release "unconscionable."

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the United States had repeatedly asked Scotland to keep al-Megrahi in custody. Gibbs said: "On this day, we extend our deepest sympathies to the families who live every day with the loss of their loved ones."

Attorney General Eric Holder released a statement saying he was "extremely disappointed" with the release.

"The interests of justice have not been served by this decision," he said. "There is simply no justification for releasing this convicted terrorist whose actions took the lives of 270 individuals, including 189 Americans."

Holder said al-Megrahi "did not show and has not shown compassion for innocent human life, and as we communicated to the Scottish authorities and the U.K. government, it continues to be our position that he should have been required to serve the entire sentence handed down for his crimes."

Semtex? Nah. Too quick. Put two or three Willy-Petes along the leading edge of each wing. Let 'em notice what's going on so they can enjoy the ride dowm.

This world is so fucked up you almost have to laugh or your blood pressure will kill you.

By the way, how does this decision by Scotland's government have anything to do with your Scottish "heritage"?

By the way, how does this decision by Scotland's government have anything to do with your Scottish "heritage"?

The decision was made by a Scot who was elected by Scots.

Okay, what about Obama's decisions?

I wasn't saying, "You must be embarrassed about being American everyday, then" because I believe it but because I find the title of this thread humorous.

You disgraced at being Scottish because the government made a retarded decision? Ask any person in Lockerbie or Glasgow what they think about this and they'll be in agreement with most Americans.

So you're ruling out the majority of Scottish people who didn't vote for Salmond?

Where's the outrage among the Scots? When people disagree with a decision their government made, they speak up. So far, we've heard crickets.

Well, it's common sense.

Why would they rejoice over the fact that a terrorist was released who killed hundreds of their country-men? Still looking for proof though, haha. :p

BUMP

Seriously? Not one comment on this joke?:dunno:

I listened to it but I couldn't figure out what he was saying.
If you transcribe the joke, I might laugh.

Shocked! Dude is still alive.

Remember when cancer-stricken Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset Al Megrahi was freed last August from a Scottish prison because a doctor said he had only three months to live?

He's still alive nearly a year later and some furious U.S. senators are demanding that British authorities investigate the circumstances of his release, says The Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail sums up the situation:

The Libyan had served eight years of a life sentence for the December 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 as it flew from London to New York.

A total of 270 people died when it exploded over Lockerbie, including 189 Americans.

Democratic senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer, of New York, and Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, of New Jersey, called for the investigation yesterday in a letter to the UK's ambassador to the U.S.

"There was always a chance he could live for 10 years, 20 years," said professor Karol Sikora, who had made the diagnosis of terminal prostate cancer. "But it's very unusual."

That is fucking bullshit. We need to send a drone over to Libya and light that fucker up!

By the way, how does this decision by Scotland's government have anything to do with your Scottish "heritage"?

it doesn't. just another way to make it about HIM rather than a topic. LOOK AT ME EVERYONE ONE LOOK AT ME!
