I agree with MM. Personally the only player able to protect is Batum. And he only protects break away baskets.

If you simply go by blocks per 36 minutes, so everyone is equal it's Leonard at 1.7. Aldridge comes in next at 1.3 which ranks 23rd. PER 48 minutes of everyone that qualifies, Aldridge moves down to 54th

But the eye test tells me that no team is afraid to attack the rim against us. there is no altering of the offense because of an intimidating presence in the middle

I'd have to agree as well though. It's kind of pathetic actually.

Meyers Leonard leads us in block percentage and blocks per 36 minutes so that's somewhat encouraging. Of course I don't know if he will ever play 36 minutes..

I agree with this. I have made it clear that I don't believe an American born white center is ever the answer, but since we have him, let's see what he can do. Better to find out as soon as possible

Yes. Meyers is smart and he will adjust, with some growing pains of course and probably several foulouts, but WTH because wins don't matter that much at this point.

Last night it looked like Leonard to me. He didn't block any shots, or even alter any that I could tell. But you could just see how Wizard players stopped taking it to the rim once he entered the game. There's just a certain something in having a guy that big out there in the middle. Maybe elite players don't care, but middling guys seem naturally a little intimidated. I guess it's why 7 footers like Przybilla stick around in this league and get disproportionately big contracts even when they have very limited skills.

Teams look at Hickson and laugh to themselves. They know he's just a 6'8 guy who is going to step aside and angle for rebounds. But Leonard clearly is out there to occupy space in the paint and deliver hard fouls around the rim. He's a foul magnet and he doesn't seem to think fast enough, but he's a presence at least on the defensive end around the rim.
