I'm stepping down

I actually think that SlyPokerDog is more trollish than MIXUM. I can't remember the last basketball related thread that he started, and looking at his posting history, he is more involved in the poster-based drama on this board as any other poster.

Fixed!

I found the people who spammed "I hate MIXUM" posts to be as annoying/disruptive as MIXUM and his spam. That said, I didn't feel anyone needed to be banned, but I can understand the decision to do so.

There's so much good stuff in this thread the past couple pages.

The rules are deliberately vague and meant to be guidelines. The common sense translations are "act like an adult" and "no fun at others' expense." It's a sad thing that in the end, MIXUM admitted flat out that he was here having fun at others' expense, and that's all there is to it. And he seems to have known the jig was up and wasn't acting much like an adult. The guy had an enormously long rope, and to the displeasure of many. He finally hung himself with it.

I almost never edit another person's post. The times I do are to turn a youtube link into video tags so the video is embedded. Or change a thread title when a poster asks. Or to edit out someone's email address when they post it (like when selling tickets).

I'm confused, are people leaving? Because the last PM I got was Ed telling me that the check I sent him bounced.

This seems a lot like the Government getting Capone on tax evasion.

That's what I meant. You said it more concisely. The official rules exist to justify actions done for unofficial reasons. If the rules were consistently enforced, the board would die immediately.

The reasons given for Mixum's ban are superfluous--2 posts that supposedly show evil intent instead of honor, and calling someone today a bad word when several people were already attacking Mixum personally.

The real reason for his unpopularity has nothing to do with the written rules, and it is--Some people (not me) come here for the quasi-religious positivism of believing in a team. If you go to church and one guy is saying God doesn't exist, you'll ask the pastor to kick him out. You want to feel good as a true believer without a cynical naysayer present.

It would be hard to codify the "real rule," which is what percentage of your posting must be positive, or what percentage must not be negative. A second "real reason" is that Mixum often spun what seems like positive news into negative, e.g. today's thread title, "Things are really bad now.... Blazers sign Chris Johnson AGAIN."

I dislike embedded video because I can't max it to full screen. I always have to right click to open in another window and then max.

I don't think this is exactly the case, it's more like a person intentionally trying to disrupt a church meeting by saying god doesn't exist if he believes it or not. I don't think it's a matter of posting negative posts, but posting antagonistic posts.

Safety, even when on the internet, is always very important. If someone does not give a consent to use their name, you should not use it. People will drop random bits of information here and there, and maybe it will slip their mind what they've mentioned before. It is very unlikely they've done such so someone else may piece it all together and figure out their 'real' identity.

At that point you reach a very scary line, because if you start addressing their name without their consent, what is to stop you from mentioning their spouse, or their kids, the block they live on. It is just a precedent that should not be set, in my opinion.

If you aren't a dickhead no one has a reason to try and find your name and harass you with that knowledge. Its fairly easy. People don't give a shit about harassing you unless you prove to be a major douche. Then people are inclined to put a face or name with the fool.

The sad part is the guy got away with a being a blatant troll of epic proportions for over 5 years in my estimation. He'll reappear with a new username or a new IP if he has too. I think at this point its part of who he is.

I knew this would never happen under the abler Ed O. It took him being on vacation to finally get done.

I now dub thee Milquetoast.

Seems like you're justifying digging up info on posters that you don't like. You're a cause, and not a symptom. Plus, you whiffed badly on me, which makes you seem foolish.

digging up info? I just spread the word. Can't remember who dug it up. No one really liked you at the time, you were pretty miserable.

All of this could have been avoided if we would have immediately banned Nate the moment he posted he was stepping down.

Lesson learned.

I completely agree with you and I brought this up with the rest of the S2 staff. If you see someone's personal information being posted on here please feel free to PM any of us.

Still remaining in this thread are more than one calling-out of Mixum's true first name. But I think he would say you should leave them, so readers can trace one thing that ticked him off. Deleting his name would whitewash the thread against him, not for him.

Mixum knows the Blazers and probably follows them closer than some posters on this board...He would generate activity when the board was dead . . . he has been a colorful part of the Blazer posting for years. Mistake in my eyes.

Bullshit move.

I agree. It's ironic that when he finally got expelled, it wasn't for a thread he started, or even for a conflict he started. It was in a thread in which several people took it for granted that 4 moderators were quitting because of him, until I asked them to confirm or deny, and they all denied. He defended himself meekly at first, but seemed to get set off by Maxiep calling him by his first name. The campaign that seems to have built up in the last couple of weeks was apparently waiting for the right place, but if he had to go, this thread provided weak reasons.

What value do you bring to this board? Read your own posting history. Threads you've started on the Blazer forum...

I'm even more trollish than him. Of all posts I have ever started, zero have been basketball-related. Check them out.

Wow, so let's see... The people who are against the Mixum ban is PapaG and Jlprk... I'm shocked. Shocked.

Kiss_My_Darius and TheSebastianExpress also seem to be in the "why??" camp. If you can't read the thread, then why are you still a mod? I thought you "stepped down". Are you reconsidering? If so, you should expect things to intensify from this point on, right? As I read it, it would be a NateBishop is still a mod vs. banning MIXUM. I think MIXUM adds more value and entertainment to the board, so let's see how this one ends.

So ... are you "Stepping Down"? Or, was this thread soley to call attention to yourself, and to get MIXUM banned as a result of the Look At Me thread?

Did a moderator troll the board with a self-righteous thread, announcing his own demotion, and then keep the title after strong-arming Denny to act on a single poster?

Is NateBishop the Hap/Dan of S2? I have to say, this development does surprise me.

I think Mixum sensed the end was near so he went out with a bang at Maxiep.

I must be weird. I have never even looked into how the Ignore function works. I guess I tolerate everyone. (Rarely, I have to uphold my macho reputation and be a man and pretend to be tough, but if you don't know I'm faking, well, I do.)

Cynicism is funny. Twisting everything into a negative is akin to twisting the physical world into mathematical formulae. I enjoy being showered by such genius.

Some personalities are sensitive to being offended. Some are sensitive to being bored. Conformity vs. creativity. Encountering people who offend you is a cost of avoiding boring people. The reverse: Being with boring people is the result of avoiding being offended.

Me, I avoid boredom, so I expect unusual people, so I'm not bothered.
Are you Charlie Sheen?

:devilwink:

Oh, please make no mistake. I think mixum being banned is a good thing, because I do not think he was in most ways genuine in his reasons for being here. I do not think it makes it acceptable to use anyone's given name less they give consent, however. Regardless of how intentionally destructive disruptive someone is at times.

Though, it wasn't very hard to ignore him once I told myself to do so.

9.0 earthquake, 33 ft. tsunami, exploding nuke plants in Japan: 164 posts.

NateBishop resigns, MIXUM banned: 206 posts.

Oh, the humanity!

Oh god... get over yourself. I made a similar post in the moderator forum so it's not like I did this to get my way. I never made any ultimatums about Mixum and he didn't have to post what he did. I'm merely waiting for my resignation to take affect. I can't do it myself.

...
MIXUM doesn't bother me...either he amuses me or I ignore him.
Will you share the reasoning behind the suspension?
Not purposely trying to act dense, I just think it is important to know what led to this result... His intent was to violate which "rules" and "spirit of the rules"?
So it was mostly about being disrespectful of other posters, and not trolling... correct?
I'm not a mod, but I'll give my $0.02 that I don't think his suspension should be permanent. I would submit that he should be on a shorter leash than others for his previous behavior. When he actually wants to talk hoops, he's not a bad poster. And I'm always of the mind that the more posters who actually want to talk hoops the better. Hell, I'm even willing to converse with DaRizzle and Mamba even though they root for evil incarnate. ;)
I think Mixum should receive the same punishment that Master Shake did for doing the same things. (Free to post anywhere on the site but the Blazers forum)
I'm rather indifferent to Mixum being banned, but I can't help but wonder.....who will be next?

I love me some Papa G - and that dude was banned for a while. Here's a perfect comparison to show how big a douche Mix is. Papa G - he only argues for the sake of arguing. If I remember correctly, there was a day he was "bored" at work and admitted that he was here "picking fights" in order to keep his mind firing on all cylinders. He wasn't mentally stimulated enough. See - I respect that. At least he was honest with his intentions. It's all about intentions, people. If you're transparent, and an asshole, you should be more than welcome here. If you're just an asshole to be an asshole - fuck yourself.
