Okay, in an ideal world, the Blazers and Lakers would be playing tonight with both teams at full strength. Unfortunately, things have been far from ideal for the Blazers this season from an injury standpoint. So what would tonight's game look like in a "fair" world where the Lakers had an equal number of injuries to comparable players? Let's see:

The Lakers two best seven-footers, Bynum and Gasol, would be down with season-ending knee injuries. Their best remaining big man, Lamar Odom, would be playing on a bum ankle. At the SF position, Artest would be out recovering from shoulder surgery and Luke Walton's injury would be elevated to a broken foot. At the 2 guard spot, Kobe would be playing with a sore hamstring and Vujacic would be out recovering from back surgery. At the PG spot Shannon Brown would be down recovering from pneumonia. Phil Jackson wouldn't be able to get off the bench to coach due to achilles tendon surgery.

In a fair world, I'd take the Blazer tonight.

The Blazers beat the Lakers without Roy once. I don't doubt that they can do it short handed again. The crowd has to help keep their energy up for us to have a chance, but I know the Portland crowd will come through.

I think they're going to try to step on our neck early. If we can keep pace with them through the first quarter, I think we stand a decent shot at making this a game.

If we do fall behind early, I'd like to see Jeff Pendergraph pull an Ariza on one of their players.

If you need some suggestions as to which one to dump on his prima donna butt, I'd be happy to offer my 2 cents worth. ;)

FYI Pau is hurt and was "questionable" but is going on the trip. aka Phil is fucking with us

I'm aware of Pao's hammy tweak. I was just pointing out that in a "fair" context, it would be a season-ending injury instead of this relatively minor pull. I think what's rather amazing is that the Blazers can still field a team that's reasonably competitive despite all of the injuries. The Lakers have been said to be deep, but when you consider what they'd be left with if they had a similar rash of injuries as the Blazers, there's no comparison.

I am there tonight and have about 12 of us in the same section. Lets just say we plan on helping the crowd out with some rowdiness tonight!

There's a "12 Mexicans in one car" joke in there somewhere but I guess it would best be posted in the OT racist joke thread. :devilwink:

Hmm...Pau's a 7-footer, but he's their PF. Odom's their sixth man/backup PF. Mbenga is their backup C. So if it were fair, Bynum, Mbenga and Odom would be out, and Pau would be playing hurt, and Walton would be the starting 3. By the way, this would make Josh Powell the other member of their starting frontcourt.
