An amendment in the GOP health-care-reform bill will allow states to deny coverage for preexisting conditions, including sexual assault.

Pre-Obamacare rape survivors who sought treatment for their injuries could be denied health care later on. Under Obamacare, preexisting conditions were guaranteed to receive coverage — among them, sexual assault. The American Health Care Act is going to change that.

The new MacArthur-Meadows Amendment will allow states to discriminate based on medical history, reportedly without addressing the subsequent high cost of health care for millions of Americans.

In addition to rape, postpartum depression, Cesarean sections, and surviving domestic violence are all considered preexisting conditions. Companies can also deny coverage for gynecological services and mammograms.

It's not their fault they weren't born with penises.

Why wouldn't it be? Persons who have been raped will likely need more medical and psychological/psychiatric care in the future?

The whole system is a joke. Single payer or back to the old way. Someone mentioned a one month old baby dying after a million dollars in medical care. How is that even possible? I know a million bucks ain't what it used to be but still.

I'm not sure what to do right now about my knee I hurt at work a year ago. The "doctor" at the urgent care said sprained ligaments and I needed to go to physical therapy immediately.

I did, it got slightly better and they released me from care.

A year later the pain and stiffness comes and goes like it just happened. I will bet good money my meniscus is fucked up. You can't see it in an xray and there isn't any blood flow to it from what I read so it will never heal.

Do I reopen an old workman's comp claim? Sue them for not getting me an MRI. I told them I landed straight down on my knee and it popped.

I'm probably walking around bone on bone.

Our system is stupid. They probably planned to milk my therapy knowing it wouldn't fix it.

Oh, and the other doctor that released me from therapy said he'd have prescribed rest in the first place and pretty much intimated they were milking my claim.

The therapist looked like I ran over his dog when I told him the other doctor released me early

What is it, day 101?

Weren't people ragging on Trump because he failed the first time?

I had the TV turned off.

I just turned it on to watch the crybabies in action.

Trump basically hitting the delete button on all things Obama.

Hopefully he'll delete the wars and the debt, too.

Yes sir! Now that is an area Congress could do some fixing. Leave the fucking insurance business to the people that design a product and sell it.

Looking beyond the spin.

Under the amendment, states could waive both the ACA’s standards for what health benefits insurance plans must offer and its prohibition on charging people more based on their medical history. Supposedly, the latter waiver would only affect people who do not maintain continuous health coverage.

So it's up to the states to opt out (few will), and it incentivizes people to stay insured (instead of, with ObamaCare, just paying the fine/tax).

Congress is not a body to do system design work, it is not intended to be. System design is never a democratic process. When done well, the system designed will meet the requirements that justify the need for the system.

As the representatives of the electorate, Congress would be a body able to accept or reject a system design. Ideally, they would specify the requirement, or add additional requirements as needed. Ideally they never would attempt to do system design, as this is never successfully done by votes, it must be lead by an architect who understand principle concepts of the system and the requirements. An architect is not concerned with pleasing an electorate.

As and electorate, we have none of the above going for us.

Good job Trump voters! Too bad that nose you cut off is a pre-existing condition.

A tad bit early to do a touchdown dance isn't it? It still has to pass the Senate and that's a tougher row to hoe. Just sayin'.........

I'm not the one making a big deal over the 100 days thing. Just pointing out that day 101 through day 2920 are just as important.

Trump put the burden on the republicans to REPLACE ObamaCare. They've only voted to just repeal it 60 times.

I just said that... :waiting:

It's passed the house 61x. Now they'll get rid of the filibuster to ram that piece of crap down our throats.

Repeal and replace failed in the house once, passed once.

Repeal (but not replace) failed 60 times.

This isn't the 61st time they voted on a bill like this one.

They didn't replace shit. They just changed things that they'll only be able to pass through budget reconciliation (simple senate majority). So they'll destroy medicaid by block granting it as well as get rid of the subsidies for people. All while giving the rich a huge tax break...

It's a steaming pile of SHIT.

Republicans literally made their own bill worse to say they "fixed" Romney er obamacare.

Millions of people will lose coverage and preexisting conditions are now a thing again.

Truly lipstick on a pig.

ObamaCare is gone. Bye bye, not anymore.

The awful NYTimes even admits this much. But they won't call it ObamaCare.

Totally cool as long as a criminal physical assault where the victim is male is considered pre-existing and erectile disfunction and testicular cancer can be denied because only men get them and my insurance premium shouldn't have to go toward that.

So how exactly is Trump going to force insurance companies to lower their rates?

With or without ObamaCare, 93% of Californians are insured. Instead of big brother providing, literally one size fits all, the states will do what works for their population.

Most people get insurance through work. Incentive to work.

There is still a lot of assistance in the proposed new law.
