Incredible pictures of one of Earth's last uncontacted tribes firing bows and arrows

No one is sure that they are aware of the world around them. If they are and choose to live like this, that is one thing. As complex as they may be mentally, they sorely lack the kind of mental faculties that we have. How did humans evolve over the course of the years? And what makes us better than animals? It is acting civil, and using our human brain to develop as a species that leads to greater innovations.

They may be getting by, but they are most likely inferior in various fashions. One can be as poor and as old fashioned as they want to be, for it is the mind that matters most in my eyes. They should at the very least be exposed to new concepts. There are many theoretical concepts relevant to their culture that they are not aware of. We can't save every country, but some fundamental rights should be provided. Illiteracy in our world is rarely beneficial, and I don't know if there is much we can do for them.

**** it, nuke em.

First off, I don't know if it is even that safe to make contact with these people, but they could use a couple of tweaks.
</div>

How do you mean not safe?? Do you mean they could attack the Communicators? If so with what. At best they have Bows and Arrows and compared to our Weapons they would not stand a chance. I'm not saying that All Americans go in all guns Blazing
but if it were to come to a little fight then they MIGHT have poison tipped spears or some crap like that. I personally think if we were to approach them (Which IMO we shouldn't) Then they would either Welcome us into their Village (Or whatever you want to call it) or go all out to kill the explorers.

They could hurt a couple of us before we beat them in a fight, it's not just about winning some hypothetical battle.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Run BJM @ Jun 5 2008, 10:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I agree with Huevon here. Seems like everyone wants to treat them like animals; keep them in the wild and protected like a friggen endangered species or something. They're people though. We shouldn't go out of our way to keep them ignorant of the world. IMO it would be cool to send some well intentioned researchers up there (if its safe) so study them, try to contact them and show them that theres a lot more people out there than what is in their tribe. No one is going there to try and install corporations in their villages for god's sake.

They're people. They should be informed of technology and things that could improve their standard of living. No one is making them do anything, they can continue to do whatever the hell they want. If they want to continue living exactly the same then they can but I'd bet that if you showed them a lighter, flashlight, or a sleeping bag they'd probably like to use that since its easier/more efficient than just using what nature offers. Its nice that there are tribes like these who are completely isolated but they are still people, not animals. They can make their own decisions and if that ends up in their culture being destroyed who are we to stop it? IMO if they are open to technologies or moving into the "rest of the world" then they shouldn't be kept in the dark. If they are completely against outsiders and technology and whatnot, then that's fine as well. I just don't think that because they are living completely isolated that it means that they are completely happy with what they have and they would automatically reject anything that would make their lives different and/or easier. They have no idea what is even out there.

Its almost like the Truman Show. Sure, they're doing fine with everything they need as is but is it really the right thing to do to keep them isolated and ignorant of the outside world? IMO you should at least reach out to them, send some people up there and see if the tribe will accept them and how they respond to the outsiders. If they want to be a part of it, then they should be allowed, if not thats fine too. I just think they should know what is out there so they can choose if they want a different (and in my opinion "better") life instead of keeping them ignorant of the world. It would suck if it destroys their culture but IMO its up to the individual to make choices about their own well being, if you're that concerned with maintaining someone else lifestyle you can go ahead and try to become a part of their tribe and keep it going.</div>

They are human beings, and it is out of respect for them that you leave them alone. Whatever they're doing, it's worked for them for hundreds of years, if not thousands. Who are we to judge them or their lifestyle, or to say that we know better? I do not at all think we're so enlightened to know better.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Denny Crane)</div><div class='quotemain'>Let's see.

They're dirt poor, so they need a poverty program. They're uneducated, too, so we ought to send 'em to public schools. But hey, we have separation of church and state, so we'll wipe out any individuality they have in their culture and effectively wipe out any distinct religion they have. At the same time, we'll force 'em to learn in english, so they'll forget whatever language it is they speak. They probably make their own booze, can't have that. And they're not paying taxes, so we'll send in the tax collectors. The food they're eating isn't USDA approved, oh no!

If they don't want to do things our way, we'll surround their compound with ATF and FBI agents, then set their home on fire.</div>

^^ Well how are they going to see who wins the NBA Finals if we don't help them?

This shit is FALSE

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Even in an age when cynical sleuths can hyper-analyze stories for truth and accuracy, the occasional hoax still slips through the cracks. Such was the case with a so-called "lost Amazon tribe."

A few months ago, mainstream news outlets (including, ahem, Yahoo!) reported that a photographer had found a lost tribe of warriors near the Brazilian-Peruvian border. Photos of the tribe backed up his claim.

As it turns out, the story is only half true. The men in the photo are members of a tribe, but it certainly ain't "lost." In fact, as the photographer, José Carlos Meirelles, recently explained, authorities have known about this particular tribe since 1910. The photographer and the agency that released the pictures wanted to make it seem like they were members of a lost tribe in order to call attention to the dangers the logging industry may have on the group.

The photographer recently came clean, and news outlets, perhaps embarrassed at having been taken for a ride, have been slow to pick up the story. Now, the word is starting to spread and articles in the Buzz are picking up steam. Expect a lot more brutal truth in the coming days.</div>

I hate when people try to skew things for a cause (even if I agree with the cause). Lame.

Well Yahoo fell for it. But I guess all the super cereal discussions that were going on were all in vain!
