Notorious US broadcaster Alex Jones is a “performance artist” and his on air persona is an act, according to his lawyer.

Mr Jones runs the controversial Infowars website, which is known for propagating conspiracy theories and its support of Donald Trump.

But Mr Jones is now embroiled in a custody battle with his estranged wife, Kelly Jones, with whom he has three children. She said some of Mr Jones’s on-air rants – for which he is renowned – are evidence of him being “not a stable” father.

However, Randall Wilhite, Mr Jones’s attorney, said the behaviour was merely an act.

“He’s playing a character. He is a performance artist.” Mr Wilhite said, according to the Austin-American Statesman.

Mr Wilhite said that using Mr Jones’ on-air persona to judge him as a father would be like judging Jack Nicholson in a custody dispute based on his performance as the Joker in Batman.

The claim is likely to cause some confusion among Mr Jones’s fans, who have closely followed his musings. These included unfounded assertions that the Sandy Hook massacre and Boston bombings were hoaxes, Hillary Clinton should be jailed and that Barack Obama founded Isis.

Santa Claus is real, I just saw a picture of her and her elf in the Myers Leonard thread. I believe in Santa Claus.

I hope on-air Alex Jones denounces custody-suit Alex Jones.

Assuming the lawyer is telling the truth, it seems like a defense that doesn't exactly help Jones's career.

Funny stuff.

Anybody with any ounce of knowledge would know this. People judge him based off his antics now but waaay before he got super popular he was pretty logical and he still is just not on his show. He is damn good at whatever crazy character he plays and it brings in views. Fact is though, he really seems reasonable and logical outside of his show in interviews and what not and check on the early days of him. Says a lot of crazy shit these days but there are some truths he has been saying for YEARS and YEARS, shit he was saying that ultimately became true. Alex Jones is hilarious to me because I know that shit is a character

This was a couple months ago. Sometimes in this interview he goes into character but for most of the podcast he is very logical and reasonable and the shit he is saying is true and can be proven like pedophilia and the higher ups, the sex rings, etc

Apparently anybody with an ounce of knowledge does not include Donald Trump, who granted a one on one interview with Jones and has cited him as fact.

Not sure what Jones has said for YEARS and YEARS that "ultimately became true". I mean, I can predict that there will be an earthquake in California and ultimately that will become true. Can Cippy91 give a for instance?

BTW, I'm sorry to say, Jones to the contrary, that juice boxes and soy do not make you gay. Most of us are gay all on our own.

Listen I'm not completely defending him. His current way of doing things and being super trump is crazy but outside the act he's in the middle not left or right. Was very critical of bush when he was president. Reported on all the NSA stuff before Snowden. A lot of the child sex trafficking the higher ups do he has been covering for years. People new to Alex jones just thinks he's an "alt right" nut job but he's really not. That's the character on his current platform though. Years and years ago he was most popular for conspiracy theory stuff, actually got into the bohemian grove and filmed it. A lot of actual good stuff. Some of the conspiracies I completely don't believe in but there are some in there that have a whole lot of weight to deny

Truth.

https://www.infowars.com/report-supposedly-impartial-fact-checkers-driven-by-political-prejudices/

A new study on the recent fact-checking trend to separate “fake news” from real reporting found that in the majority of cases, the fact-checkers are just as subject to bias as the news they evaluate.

The report underscored the importance of subjective judgments in the process of fact-checking, amply borne out by numerous examples where fact-checking organizations betray significant political and cultural biases in their assessments.

The results of the study, executed by Daniele Scalea of the Machiavelli Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Rome, were presented at the Italian Parliament Wednesday during an academic conference on the topic of fake news and journalism.

Many of the errors proceed from broadening the scope of fact-checking to include statements that express opinion, analysis or prediction.

A fake study from a fake think tank posted on a fake news site somehow proves that Alex Jones isn't full of shit?!?

he kinda looks like bill hicks.
Crazy that he is allegedly 43-years old. The snake oil he sells doesn't exactly work wonders. He looks fifteen years older.

Like I said, I hadn't paid much attention to Alex Jones, and I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories. No matter what you think of the guy, he can tell the truth. You did nothing to refute his report or the study.

oxymoron....his truth is conspiracy theory ....performance art? ....he can read the script and play the part.

Makes no difference at all. If he says water is wet, it's the truth no matter who he is or what else he says.
