Initial diagnosis on Ryan McDonagh is “not serious.”

Taking light shots and passing to MSL. Seems to me like things are heading in the right direction. Hopefully another 8 or 9 days and he'll be good to go.

11:21AM: Alain Vigneault had no update on Kreider today. (Andrew Gross)

10:34AM: Chris Kreider is on the ice for the Rangers optional skate this morning. (Rangers)

Kreider is only wearing one glove, his right hand, and is wearing a brace on his left hand. (Rangers)

Kreider is only shooting with his right hand and not gripping his stick with his left. (Katie Strang and Andrew Gross)

1:36PM: Vigneault said that McDonagh said he is “fine” and remains day to day. (Rangers)

Will you put McDonagh in before the playoffs if he is ready, “I’m 50/50 on that and will see…he will have to be 100-100% which he should be but I am still 50/50 on that.”
Do you think he will practice in full tomorrow, “not 100% sure right now. See how today goes.”

So maybe Carp just made up his story, because EVERYTHING else says he is way off.

1:35PM: Vigneault said that Kreider has a cast on his hand so he is out “indefinitely.” (Rangers)

When asked about a timetable, Vigneault said that he couldn’t give one for Kreider and that moving forward there will be a lot less info about injuries coming out.

like i said before. Shut Kreider down for the year.

1:52PM: McDonagh is OUT for tomorrow and 50/50 for Saturday’s game in Montreal. (Rangers)

12:14PM: McDonagh was skating with Justin Falk in line rushes and is not participating in PP practice. (Leonard)

12:12PM: Ryan McDonagh is on the ice today in a yellow non-contact jersey. (Rangers)

Based on all I have seen, I would be very surprised if McDonagh didn't play in game 1 which will be 7 or 8 days from now.

I think Kreider is out for the year. It's unfortunate because he's going to be missed in the playoffs. Getting the cast off and then rehab just isn't going to give him enough time.

I think so also Mess. At the very least he is going to miss round 1. If we make round 2 who knows. By that time it would be about 5 weeks from surgery.

All I can say is no excuses. A lot of teams have injuires this time of year. As long as McDonagh is back and healthy, Hank is healthy, and we have MSL and Nash we have a chance to make some noise (and Stepan has been very good the past few weeks as well). All we can do is play hard and we'll see how it goes against the Flyers in round 1.
