For the record, he's hoping Oden will stay out of foul trouble. He also went as Oden for Halloween...which for the record is a bad idea because when dogs wear T-shirts they tend to pee on them...

I agree with your second statement. Without foul trouble and if we made our free throws, our record would look better.

However, even if we were 4-1 because we had made our foul shots, I would still argue that we don't look as fluid and as strong as we did the second half of last season when we were absolutely destroying teams.

I don't know if it is a chemistry thing, a rust thing, a lack of effort thing, etc. But something is causing us to play at a lower level than we did for the second half of last season, even accounting for the missed free throws.

Now would be a good time to reiterate my belief that Hollinger's emphasis on point differential being a better predictor of future success than win-loss record is off base, being basically a statistical anomaly with this team.

Why does the players not knowing where to stand on offense means there is a problem with Miller?

True. Sergio's return would also be required to restore the great chemistry we won 54 games with, and then the return of Martell would truly be effective.

Wasn't broke, shouldn't have "fixed" it.

That is interesting. I'm not very salary cap savvy...but my understanding is that if we didn't use the space this year we basically were going to lose it. So, it was a question of adding an asset, even if it wasn't a perfect fit, or give up any chance to use the cap space.

...I really need to learn more about how the cap works...anyone have suggested links that are good places to go to learn?

Could have used the cap anyway for an uneven trade - taking someone's expensive player (Say, Capt. Kirk for example) for a cheaper player (Say, Webster for example).

I do not think they would have signed him if they did not think there is more to him than trade-bait.
 
If KP hadn't brought in SOMEBODY this off season, there would have been fans jumping off bridges. S2 would have absolutely melted down.

So we panic for a few months. Big deal, not like there was anything else going on. Better to go crazy in the offseason than during the actual season.
