Would you trade Batum for Tony Parker?

Nate's actually just looking for a good deal on toilet paper.

Are there any Native Americans in the league?

Maybe Nate said "teepee".

I don't think there's been a Native American in the league since the great Darren Morningstar of Stevenson, Washington. To this day, Stevenson's most proud accomplishment outside of Viking Ice Cream and Kenny Vance.

Cherokee Parks was at least part Native-American. It also goes with the "CP" instead of "TP" option. So - it is safe to say this is the leading candidate given that it would work for either option.

Mike Rice was alluding to a TP trade.

Then again, it is Mike Rice.

Mike Rice pretty much knows as much as us. He is useless when it comes to speculation

Rice said fans were talking about it. Probably he read this thread.

I really wish the people at BEdge didn't post this. While I like getting inside info, I don't want a Heisenberg effect. I prefer stuff like this stays quiet. Quick clearly has been told something (or at least given a strong hint), but hasn't said anything specific.

It was likely made up by some attention seeking whore.

What makes you think Quick knows anything?

No way... Parker has begun to slide, while Nic has yet to show us all he can be...

Here's something I'd be willing to do ... it gets especially attractive from the Spurs POV if Joel is able to contribute anything this year as a backup center in their frontcourt.

Spurs out:
Parker
McDyess

Blazers out:
Miller
JPEC
Bayless
Rudy
and toss in the rights to one of Freeland, Koponen or Claver if that's what it takes to get the deal done.

I think that the spurs would be interested in something that looked more like:

Blazers out: Andre, JPEC, Bayless, Rudy
Blazers In: Parker, Mcdyess

Spurs in: Trade exemption, Pryzbilla, Bayless, ? (picks)
Spurs Out: Parker, Mcdyess

3rd Team with cap space in: Miller, Rudy
3rd Team with cap space out: trade exemption...

the real question is who the 3rd team would be, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Indiana and a few others come to mind. For a team looking to add a shooter (Rudy) or a facilitator (Andre) the price and risk are fairly cheap. Perhaps they'd supply a draft pick or young player. The spurs would save money and add Bayless basically.

I had another sudden thought: there's another player the Blazers have that the Spurs were rumored to be very interested in, and that Matthews would easily replace: Elliot Williams. Perhaps there's another reason he's been held out of Summer League - he's not really our player?

Now that trade I would do in a heartbeat.

To Maxiep...what's this stuff about J. Quick alluding to a Parker trade? Link?

You know the Spurs picked before us right? They could have had him if they wanted him.

Oh yeah.... Forgot about James Anderson. But maybe they only picked him because they thought Williams really was injured? (Yeah, that's MUCH more likely than this whole "overheard Nate say TP" thing being bullshit...)

Tell you what would REALLY make me happy - if we picked a player for San Antonio, and it was Babbitt.

We are talking Pop. He loves TP. If he thought TP has anything left then he would make sure he re-signs. If he trades him, that tells me pop has doubts about the mileage of his Peugot. Nothing worse than relying on a run down Peugot. I would be leary

Now that is a great theory ... and something that I actually think fits just about perfectly with this particular scenario. Clearly Williams is a 2 guard who can create a little bit, and it's not like Manu is getting any younger. A future backcourt of Hill and Williams, with the addition of Splitter means they maybe don't go into full tear down and rebuild mode right away but can instead groom Williams to be Manu's replacement when the time comes.

I'm pretty sure the trade wouldn't be able to be consummated for a couple more months due to Williams being recently signed, so we could be in for quite the wait.

Except B-Roy made a pretty decent point, that if they really wanted him, they could have just drafted him since they were ahead of us.

Nik: I think you can sign and trade rookies immediately.
B-Roy: Did the Spurs even end up with Anderson? I don't see him on their Summer League Roster.
Pinwheel: But Pop loves G-Hill more. It's well known that he's called him his fave player.

Maybe the Spurs wanted both the guy they drafted and Williams.
