Stephens shocked in Strasbourg, Mladenovic battles through

Second seed Sloane Stephens was a surprise casualty in the Internationaux de Strasbourg second round as Pauline Parmentier recorded a 6-3 1-6 6-4 win.

There were no such problems for the other seeds in action as Elena Vesnina (7) and Kristina Mladenovic (4) recorded victories, the former ending Kateryna Bondarenko's hopes while the latter came from a set down against Alison Riske.

Mirjana Lucic-Baroni reaches Internationaux de Strasbourg final

Mirjana Lucic-Baroni is one match away from lifting the Internationaux de Strasbourg title 19 years after she last reached the final.

The Croatian, who lost to Steffi Graf as a 15-year-old in 1997, needed just an hour to beat home hope Kristina Mladenovic 6-1 6-1.
