Does it verbally announce turns automatically as you approach them, just like a GPS navigation unit? Of course it's nothing new in terms of technology, but that's a feature that Google Maps was never able (or allowed?) to do on iPhones previously. Unfortunately, it turns out that announcing directions on roads that don't exist isn't all that helpful. I don't know if the problem is with the data TomTom provided, or the way that Apple processed it, but the app is a disaster.

yah. at least i don't need to wake up early tomorrow to buy teh iphones now. will keep my current phone for a while, maybe get the galaxy s3 but probably not.

Why would Facebook quietly hide everyone’s real email addresses and only display @facebook.com addresses on our profiles? Signs, rumors, and one source point to pressure from Apple to join forces and keep Gmail addresses from being pulled in by iOS 6 Facebook Contact Sync.

See, Google with its social network and Android OS has become the common enemy. All three are pushing their own unified messaging systems, but Facebook and Apple’s other offerings are complementary. They saw an opportunity to quarantine Gmail addresses — the root of Google’s messaging system, and took it.

I don't really see a problem with this, actually. Facebook made it harder for users to have their personal email information scraped off of their profiles under default settings (which I consider a good thing), a move which also happens to limit the iPhone's FB contact sync (which is probably not how most users populate their friends' email information anyway). I think it's a stretch to call this some kind of cooperative attack on Google.

That said, this developing Apple/Google spat is silly and ultimately a bad thing for consumers.

Traveling to Chicago for work tomorrow. Going to use the new Map app for the first time...... hope it doesn't send me to Mississippi instead of my hotel.
