It happens every March to the Iowa Energy. Some of the mainstays of the team leave for greener pastures, and the remaining players are forced to morph slightly in order to keep winning.
On Sunday, the Energy took on the Erie BayHawks just one day after learning that All-Star center Courtney Sims had signed to play in China. That resulted in a team that was undersized, but overcaffeinated.
Iowa got a season-high 36 points from 6-foot-7 power forward Michael Haynes en route to a fast-paced 133-126 victory before an announced crowd of 2,954 at Wells Fargo Arena.
